Pine Valley Lodge, Rhinelander

I just returned from a visit to Pine Valley Lodge where my family has been vacationing for 30+ years. There have been 3 owners since we have been coming. The current owners, George and Nancy, have been doing an excellent job improving the rustic cottages while maintaining the historic charm and beauty. Watching the spectacular sunrise from the beach, the bald eagle fish for breakfast, and the otter dive for clams are all precious moments that very few resorts can offer. Listening to the loon calls in the peaceful stillness of the Northwoods is what it is all about for me. I miss my sunrise swims already. While this past summer was a small family gathering, we also have our large family renunions at Pine Valley every other year. George and Nancy are excellent hosts and work to accomodate our special needs, from boat (pontoon, canoe, kayak) rentals to information about local restaurants.The weather report is always posted on the Rec Hall door first thing in the morning, as well as local events being held in Rhinelander and the surrounding communities, to help guests plan their day. The sandy beach is large, with a raft to swim to and excellent views of the lake. The setting is peaceful and the atmosphere friendly. I'm looking forward to returning every year! SheriT
