Island View Resort on Nest Lake is well-known for its spacious, tree-shaded grounds with nicely-spaced cabins. All cabins have full kitchens, bathrooms, ceiling fans in bedrooms and living rooms, decks and campfire rings. Four camping/RV sites and modern shower and toilet facilities are also available.
Island View is a great place. I have found the Dice family to be very good hosts. Their watefront is excellent and their equipment is either new or in great condition. I have been here several times and have enjoyed my rental each time. I really like the office area by the beach, there is always a great story being told from someone who has been out on the lake.
This resort is the cleanest resort I have ever been to. My older children camped and had a great time and we had a cabin that was wonderful The camping site was wonderful with clean public showers and bathrooms. The owners Bob and Sue DIce made us feel like at home right away. I found this resort very reasonable and fun for the whole family. I would recommend this resort to anyone.
I am not sure if the owners were the same as the review done in 2007 because I know the folks that own the resort now are very kind and helpful.. We rented a cabin for the week of July 4th and had a great time. The cabin was very clean, the grounds were well kept and we plan on renting a cabin in 2011.
Can I put my tent on the grass?...Absolutely Not! You have to put your tent on the pea rock. (parking spot)
Can we have 2 small tents on one site? Absolutly Not! But, it says you can have up to 4 people in one site.... Absolutely Not!
We went there with a small motorhome and 2 tents. We got two spots. The first night we only had one tent. They had to set it up on the pea rock. (What the heck is the grass for?) Our son was going to join us and set up a very small pup tent, the following night. We were told... Absolutely Not! He would have to get his own site.... but we don't have any left! So, you can have one huge tent with 4 people but not 2 small tents with 3.
We left and went to Sibley State park. It was wonderful! We stayed one night at each place. We had 2 sites at both locations. At Sibley Park we had one of our daughters join us in the motorhome and our son in his pup tent. We also bought wood and ice there. It was $25 less at Sibley(with 6 people and a dog)than The Absolutely Not Resort (aka, Island View Resort)(with 4 people and a dog).
Island View was an awful experience. The staff was rude. They have a 4 wheeler going around with a trailer that makes a terrible squeeking noise. The shower was gross.
We would Absolutely Not go back!
