Good as a next-to-last resort
We stayed in the Hanson Cottage, a pretty cute little place back behind the "Cookery" restaurant in Fish Creek, WI. As the crow flies, it's an awesome location because though not on the water, you're only about 300 yards from the water, and you can see the sailboat masts from the top of the little hill you're on. Lots of restaurants and shopping within a 5 minute radius. The problem is you're behind the "Cookery" which while we were there (Weds night through Saturday morning) seemed to involve ceaseless early morning deliveries from food distributor trucks and pickups from garbage trucks. (beep beep beep) Oh my god! It was extremely annoying. Friday am I counted 5 separate trucks all before 7am. The place was technically clean, but was moldy-smelling, had bad beds and thrift-store decor... not totally unexpected for a 2-bedroom cottage for $105 a night, but give me 3 hours and $300 and it could have been fixed up enough to pass as charming. The service was all but nonexistent, though friendly enough... Few amenities like no phones or restaurant guides, or discount coupons for the restaurant probably owned by the same people... None of the three inside doors in the cottage closed which made corralling our toddler an interesting adventure. The main rub, though, was the infernal truck noise.
I would strongly recommend you take a pass on this one.
