Atmosphere,reasonable for area
We were visiting Yellowstone and this was our place to stay as I was turned off by places inside the park and West Yellowstone looked ugly, which is was.
This lodge has good character and is right on the river. We wanted the whole antler over the fireplace atmosphere of Old Faithful without the hassle of staying there. This was a great choice for everything we as an extended family wanted.
It is about a half hour drive to the west enterance to Yellowstone gates,The only thing I would caution about is that there are some smoking rooms and we were given one, which was not alright.Thankfully, Chelsea moved us to a better room and that was fine. The lodge is somewhat rustic if you are a Marriott type traveler.Still, it worked up there in Idaho. The mosquitos came out in force the day we left as it got above sixty.Beware.Also, the women at Mack's Inn who run the restaurant and where you rent boats are horrible, don't go.The Trout Hunter is fabulous for dinner and just a stone's throw away.Meals at Angler's lodge were not worth it, bad cook.
Go to Bear World to see all the animals you don't get to see in Yellowstone; an hour's drive south and very fun.You drive your car around this park and the same animals you hoped to see in the park wander around your car.
