Mystery Mountain Resort, Rapid City

I have been staying at Mystery Mountain almost 20 years now and would not even think of trying someplace else. I stayed at a huge campground my first year of the rally and was totally disappointed. I was told about Mystery Mountain and gave it a try the next year, I am so glad I did as I have been staying there every year I have been back which is easily 15 times. I have told friends going on vacation to the area about it and they have all come back praising the resort. I have been there for the rally as well as family vacations, my son loved it so much he asked if I thought the manager would let him stay the entire summer. It is close to attractions and has some fantastic amenities like the hot tub, swimming pool. miniature golf and basketball court as well as other and they keep upgrading the campgrounds. If you wake up early you may just see deer and turkeys roaming the campground which is very cool. Its a family run resort and every one is so nice and helpful. They are always will to help plan out day trips, they are from the are and know the are very well. Anyone new to the area can totally trust the people running the resort and I have to say they have become my friends over the years. I love the Black Hills and would not consider staying any where but Mystery Mountain. The resort is nestled in the hills in the forest. Give yourself a treat and make some memories you will not forget.

The cabins had everything that you needed. They had a cabin large enough for my whole family to stay together 10 of us. The location was close to everything that we came to see. It was easy to plan day trips and come back to enjoy the pool and minature golf. We had a blast! Art was great and accomodated all 50 of us for our best vacation so far!

Mystery Mountain Resort is a lovely place. It is wooded with a variety of accommodation available for tents to RVs to guest houses and cabins. It has something for everyone! I stayed in a guest house that was like a mini condo. It had everything from microwave to forks in the drawers! The rooms were clean, nice smelling and had comfortable beds, lights, linens and towels, and a nice TV with satellite. The owners were very nice and attentive - they wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. When we left early in the morning, we saw several deer. Very nice for a city gal! Even though it is on the main highway, that is actually a plus, because it was so close to not only the city, but also major attractions like Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and other amusements and attractions, and yet one feels like one is in the woods. I have been to several resorts/campgrounds in the area, and this one is by far the best. I will return every opportunity I get!

This resort has lots of fun things for families and is close to many attractions! Our grandchildren had lots of fun swimming and minigolfing and the men had multiple horseshoe tournaments! The breakfasts were delicious, and $1 for all you can eat pancakes?! Awesome! Nightly campfires at the big cabin were a huge hit, too. We had multiple families in several different sizes of cabins and all had a great time. We felt we were treated very well by staff members and Art was very helpful and friendly! We will and have already recommended the resort to our friends!

Lots of great activities for the kids, perfect location for getting to everything you would like to see and do in the area! Loved our cabin!

We had a great time on our vacation and loved Mystery Mountain. It is located very close to many attractions. The cabins are very clean and the staff are very friendly. Mystery Mountain Resort has many fun things for my family to enjoy such as a playground, pool, mini golf, basketball and horseshoes. We have made so many great memories there in our last 4 visits and can't wait to go back! Thanks Mystery Mountain for everything!

Art and his staff make you feel at home when you are staying with them...clean cabins, awesomely set in the most beautiful area and the location is great you can take a left and go into Rapid city or bear country take a right and you are at Mount Rushmore. we have stayed there 4 times out out of the last 8 yrs. THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!!!

After driving for eight hours with four children, we arrived to what looked like a great place. I walked to to be barely greated and immeditly annoyed with any questions in regards to his campground. Then to find out he was unable to put us in the reserved cabin and refused to provide a refund due to no notice. The kicker of the story..he was the OWNER!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

This campground is the best place to stay in the area. Unlike a lot of campgrounds near there, they have trees to shade you during the hot summer months. It is family owned and operated by the most wonderful people ever. If you rent a cabin, they make your bed and change your towels every day as if you were in a hotel. They have a very nice clean pool and hot tub area. We have been camping there every year for over 10 years and we will continue to do so for years to come.

We were there for 5 days. The folks were friendly & the place was clean. Great place to enjoy the family vacation. Really made for quality time with the kids & grandkids. We had a 16 foot Bambi and a 34 foot cougar. Kind of tight for the cougar. Would return.
