making reservations right now!
By suziq, 11/13/07
We have been to the cabins at Paulina Lake Lodge several times, and taken others too. We do always make sure to tell them it is VERY rustic. All the times we have gone were in the winter. You can only get there by snowmobile (which is why we were going)and we have lots of fun. They are very old log cabins and the only heat is a wood stove. They provide wood right outside your door though. The kitchens all have microwaves but no dishwasher. Yes, the beds are old, the bathrooms are not fancy (at least they usually have hot water, unless it freezes!) but it is not a four star resort. Also the meals in the lodge are very good and not expensive. Great place if you like RUSTIC!

BEWARE!
By Sara, 5/27/11
Each year our family takes a trip to Odell Lake Lodge...we always enjoy ourselves. The cabins are rustic, the lake is beautiful and we love the fishing. So this year we decided to try somewhere new...BIG MISTAKE. This place is WAY overpriced for what they provide (which is next to nothing). We orignally booked for two weeks before our actual stay but due to the weather we moved our stay back, when we called up the second time to check the conditions we were informed we'd have to be snow mobiled back to our cabin. We informed them that my mother cannot walk well and that would not be possible so they agreed to move us to a cabin closer to the lodge (the reeds) where we would be able to get into our cabin. Well, on the day of our arrival nobody even attempted to clear a path for my mother to get into the cabin, someone just simply cut two makeshift steps in the snow. So, over the course of three days we asked for a shovel and cleared a path ourselves. The cabins here are cute...and indeed rustic, there is no electrical heat in the cabins..which is fine...however they don't tell you anywhere that you have to split your own wood because all they provide is large rounds that do not burn whole very well. You are also expected to do all your own housecleaning as the booklet they provide in the cabin says you'll be charged if it's not. The showers and bath in this place were both gross...the only shower had mold on the wall and you could see where water damage was behind the wall. There were also TONS of dead carpenter ants in the shower and bathroom..big ones. Bleh. I will say the beds were comfy but overall that does not make up for how underwhelming this place is. The stove in our cabin was also busted up too..it had no front glass plate and the frame on the door was bent so you couldn't close the door without popping the dent back in. Everything in this place looks 3rd hand garage saled. The staff is also extremly unhelpfur here as well...they ask you to let them know if you need anything but when you do they expect you to follow up with what you asked for. We asked for toliet paper once and nobody brought us any, therefore we had to retrieve it ourselves. They also have a restraunt and bar on site..however both were only open for lunch despite their website, and instructions in the cabin saying it was open from 11-7pm. Overall I will not go back to this place until a few changes have been made....mainly the management. Save yourself some money and time...go on to Odell (30min from Lapine) The cabins are nicer, cleaner, and the staff ACTUALLY helpful and friendly.

NO WAY-- BEWARE!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/07
We were entirely mislead about pricing We arrived and were treated disrespectfully by the owner We entered the cabin and it was absolutely filthy--mouse droppings, soiled linens, corroded and rotten sink and counter area, the dirtiest shower curtain i have ever seen. very thick dust everywhere, a very uncomfortable and extremely old saggy matress with years of stains, rags for towels, bathroom was disgusting. Wayyyyy over priced. This place is a dump. the rooms should be 25 a night, or free.
