Waters Edge Lodge, The, Whitehall

When I was a youngster in the mid 60's, we came up to Whitehall a number of times....we stayed Murray's resort, sometimes in the lodge and sometimes renting a cabin up the hill. Is Hollister's the Waters Edge the same place under new ownership? On my way to Ludington a few years back I stopped by, but there was what looked like run-down apartments right next to the beach at White Lake by the channel to Lake MI. Just curious.

Great location. This is one of the most peaceful places I know. I have stayed at the place 2-3 times a year (spring,summer & fall) for over ten years. If you are looking for a 4 star hotel you have the wrong place, but if you want a nice place really close to the water go to Hollister's Waters Edge. I have gone with both my family for beach time and by myself to fish. Great owner and GREAT place to relax.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. You are able to walk to Lake Michigan, walk the pier, or do fishing. The place needs some major work. We saw mouse droppings in the kitchen. There was broken paddles for the canoe's and they were full of water. The paddle boat was broken. Every one of his boat's had some sort of problem with it. The grass needed to be cut. The beds are on the floor. There is no televisions which is fine. The sailboat is very old and rickety. There is no Whitehall beach like there used to be. Unfortunately, I am very displeased with the water's ede. I used to be a regular every year but I will not be going back. The place is not being kept up and I feel it is a real shame. The owner is very nice but he does not keep the place up like it used to be. I grew very attached to the Water's edge and it breaks my heart to see it now in the shape it's in. It is way overpriced too.

WE LOVE THE PLACE .EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS GREAT .THE OWNERS ARE SO NICE .YOU CAN USE BOATS,PADDLE BOATS .YOUR BETWEEN WHITE LAKE AND LAKE MI .WHICH YOU CAN SEE FROM THE DECK .YOU CAN GET 2 ROOMS WITH A KITCHEN IN BETWEEN WHICH IS WHAT WE GET .FRONT & BACK ENTRANCE, TV ,COOKING SUPPLIES .OUT YOUR BACK DOOR IS THE DECK OVERLOOKING THE PIER TO LAKE MI OR WHITE LAKE THE PRICES ARE NOT BAD FOR WHAT YOU GET.SEE ALL THE BOATS COMING AND GOING BETWEEN THE WHITE LAKE & LAKE MI .KOKO AND JOHNNY LEE

It is absolutly beautiful the lodge sits between White Lake and Lake Michigan, you have the best of both worlds. It is a very friendly atmosphere, clean, relaxing. My husband introduced this place to me 8 years ago he has visited here since he was a little boy with his family and I visit 1-2 times a year and look forward to every visit. Most visitors that stay here come back every year, try it once and your hooked. I come back from here feeling rejuvinated. There are lots of things to do or its a great place just to relax. I bring my kids and my dog which is great, he is a part of our family too!
