Absolutely A Dump
By ,
Dirty rooms, moth-eaten linen, and totally inadequate service. We would never stay in this dump again if the alternative was to sleep in the car. We were booked into this hotel for a family wedding and everyone complained about the lack of cleanliness, the house flies in the rooms, the mildew in the bathroom, and the terrible service in the restaurant and the bar. The linens were moth-eaten and the room carpet was filthy with sticky places. Ugh!

Never again
By ,
We stayed here 3 years ago for a waterpark birthday party, and all was great. There was a simple pizza lunch in the restaurant, a few activities for the kids and a whole day of fun in the waterpark. We came back for a repeat for our younger daughter, and upon arrival there was no record of our reservation and the staff had no idea what exactly a "super soaker package" was. After we showed them on our blackberry what they were supposed to give us, they handed us some tokens and sent us on our way, no "happy birthday" acknowledgement of any kind. The kids working the pool and arcade areas were nice enough, but management of this operation is "absent" - to be polite. After multiple requests to see a supervisor, a young lady came by with no reason or apology for the lost reservation. The pool area and locker rooms were filthy. We didn't stay at the hotel this trip, but from what I recall they were less than I expected for the price. There are much better options available for this price range - go elsewhere.

A great time.
By ,
We found none of the negative items mentioned in some of the reviews. The rooms were very nice, quite spacious and very clean. The desk staff were friendly and very helpful and quickly responded to our special requests for service. The restaurant was very attractive, the service was good and the food was excellent. The hotel is in a very convenient location and easy access to the museum, 4th st elevator and the casino. We would certainly recommend this property and would stay again if in the area.

Not sure if we will go back or not...
By ,
When we checked in, the receptionist was very unfriendly, never explained anything about the waterpark, etc. Had to read in the book in the room about getting new wrist bands for the pool. The room (a suite) had a nice view, but that was about it. I thought it was dirty, bugs crawling in the shower and on the bathroom floor, cobwebs hanging on the ceiling. Fire alarm went off at 7 am heard nothing from management, they didn't even come around to tell you it was ok to re-enter the building. Small elevators, only 2, several times they were full and you had to wait. Water park was ok for the smaller kids, believe they need to let first time users know what to expect especially with the tube slide, make sure you hold on for dear life, my son and I lost our tube, he bumped his head was told by staff we should do a accident report but we aren't... The baby pool was the coldest of all the pools, would think it would be the warmest since the smallest children are in it. Overall for the money it cost us, I think it was way over priced! I believe we will try to find another water park to take our kids to next time.

Stolen money and a credit card
By ,
The water park is quite fun for younger children, so it is sad that we will never stay there again. During our one night stay, what we assume was an employee due to the $500 in credit charges around Dubuque, stole a credit card out of my purse and cash out of another while they were locked in our hotel room. We understand they can't control all of their employees, but when we called to report the problem the hotel did not seem concerned at all. We will no longer stay with this hotel.

fun mini getaway
By ,
I read a handful of online reviews on this hotel after I booked it and was quite worried after reading the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised by our overall stay. The rooms are nothing extravagant (we had a 2 double bed room) but they are clean and adequate. We have 3 kids ranging from 11-16 and all of them had fun. The waterpark was nice...lots to do and my 11 year old had the BEST time. Teens might become a little bored after a while. We had a drink at Tony Romas (hotel restaurant) in the evening...nice atmosphere...and then breakfast in the morning...little pricey for breakfast but the service was good and so was the food. We had a wireless connection everywhere in the hotel which was nice. You'll find the check in/out on second floor, but not a big deal. I do think families with kids would enjoy this hotel as a mini getaway... (little kids must have parent w/them in the waterpark) there are lifeguards walking around but not babysitting). There is also a little concession stand in the waterpark. The only STUPID thing was that the tv menu advertises "adult" channels and I don't know how easily accessible that crap is but for families w/ kids it's scary...plus who wants creepers that watch that stuff roaming around a family friendly hotel / waterpark anyway? We paid $116 for an overnight stay w/ 5 park passes (2 double bed)

Bad experience
By ,
We stayed here several years ago and have never gone back. They placed us in a handicapped room (we hadn't requested one and didn't need one) When I questioned the desk clerk the next morning if they were filled up last night I was told they were not. I asked why we were given a handicapped room then and she just shrugged. The room wasn't clean and of course there was no room for anything on the sink/vanity area because it was handicapped accessible. I dashed off my comments to the management and never even received an answer. With their attitude, I guess they didn't need our business.
