My family and I have stayed at the Victoria several times over the last 8 years or so. It is a warm, friendly place to vacation. Yes, it is not plush, it is not luxurious, but for people who aren't out to impress or be impressed, this is a convenient, value-laden accommodation. It works for us because we love the town, the beach, and the Victoria staff!
I loved my stay at the Victoria. My fiance and I reserved one of the cottages with a whirlpool tub and a real fireplace (wood, not gas) in October. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and we had lots of space.
When we checked in, we got a map of the area, restaurant recommendations and a list of things going on in the area. That was so helpful, because we had never been to South Haven before. Anytime we had a question, they had suggestions and information for us. We even got a tour of the bed & breakfast rooms too, which were beautiful.
I'm really surprised to read some of these other reviews, because our experience was great. I mean, how many times do you see other guests asking the staff to take their picture by the flowers in the front yard? When was the last time someone shook your hand and said thanks for staying with us? We're going back, we're recommending this place to our friends.
The owners of this resort are so kind & attentive. I could not believe it. My family had a great time. Lots to do the beach is only two blocks away. There are many parks near by to take the kids to. There are indoor outdoor restraunts on the Black river nearby (walking distance). Fishing charters, dinner theater, the works. This is the place to go every summer!
We enjoyed our wild and crazy group getaway here.
But I would never return for anything personal.
I didn't even like the smell of the place..kinda old and dampish. A stroll through town turns up a couple other better inns and we'll be checking those out in future visits. Found this one through a newspaper ad, but buyer beware.
Gross. A rundown old resort tucked away in a neighborhood. Dirty, overrun with children, bad food.
The town is cute, the beach is beautiful, but thios inn really isn't good. Try the other local B&Bs.
This place is for cheapo reunions and family getaways. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic or luxurious stay. Lots of kids, pets, noise. It's also in a residential neighborhood and a good mile walk to the downtown shops. Unimpressive to my wife and me, sorry.
