Give 'em a break!
Lets be reasonable here! I read all the bad reviews, then talked to some friends who'd been there, & they said it wasn't so bad. So I covered my bets, plan B was Hyrum Canyon if it was too awful.
So we got there, & a couple of the buildings look a bit shabby. As we always do, we drove round the campsite before checking in, picking out our favorite sites. Sure enough, they'd reserved one we didn't like, but didn't object to us moving (best sites are along the back tree-line, in my opinion).
OK, the facilities are basic, but all the sites are level, there are full hook-ups, picnic tables & fire rings (portable, so you can position your fire where you want, which is nice). A lot of the sites are shaded by trees. Gotta say, the bathrooms could use some TLC, mirrors broken, trim coming off walls, only 1 stall in the men's room. I didn't try the showers, but they were pretty basic, only 1 pipe running to the shower head, so no temperature control. But overall it was fairly clean, and lets face it, you don't visit there for the ambiance!
The people who whined about "having to pay extra to swim" need to think...if the swimming and/or waterslides were included in the price, the nightly rate would be more, & some folks just want to use the RV park overnight on the way to somewhere else. It's like staying at Ruby's Inn and complaining that the park entrance fee is extra!
We visited the pool area. The big pool at the end was closed for maintenance, but everything else was open. The guy was only too pleased to take our online ticket, even gave us both the discount on one ticket. OF COURSE the baths are murky, they're full of minerals! We spent a very enjoyable afternoon there, not too many people, just warm enough to lay out in the sun between soaks in the various pools (3 hot tubs, 103-105, & the main soaking pool, with sitting areas, cool waterfalls & umbrellas 96. I was too chicken to try the 72-degree cold pool!).
We've stayed at many campsites around the country, and granted, we've payed less for better-quality places, but we've also payed more for worse! $24 for full hook-ups(using the online discount coupon) is pretty reasonable. Go there with no great expectations & you'll enjoy yourself; Expect the amenities of a $40+ RV park, then, yes, you'll be disappointed.
