Would Stay Again!
By Beach Luv'n Fool, 10/14/10
Just had a 4 night stay at the Pineapple Inn and had no problems at all. Yes, it's a budget motel with no extras, but that's all I was needing. The room was clean and accommodating. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay there again when I go back next year. I didn't spend lots of time in the room as I was there to visit the area and site see. And the motel was conveniently located to area interests and restaurants. I am a middle class American that doesn't require "fluff" when I travel. Obviously, others feel the same as I do too, because other guests were driving luxury sports cars like Porsche, BMW, and late model SUV's. I never felt unsafe at the motel or in the neighborhood. Good job, Pineapple Inn!! I'll be back again next year! :-)

Good deal and location
By Pete, 5/12/10
This might just be the Cheapest place in Newport. Nice friendly staff and amenities. I saved a Ton by staying out here and taking the Trolley downtown to see the sites.

By Neil, 5/6/09
Somewhat skeptical but in order to save few bucks, I decided to stay there. To my surprise, the room was clean and smelled fresh. Its no Hampton Inn, but for the price it was a good motel. The coffee was good and linens were clean. Ih ad a good night sleep and was off on the road in the morning. I would definitely stay at the Pineapple Inn again. Ans yes the front Desk staff were very friendly

Stay Away From Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/08
I have stayed in inn/motels before - but neverone this bad. -The room Smelled of dampnes - so awfully that it was difficult to breathe. -The Sheets/blanket had burn holes in them. -The tub did not drain. (upon us placing a bar of soap under the stop to make it work the houseekeeping staff did not do anythign to try to fix the problem. When reporting this to the managerial staff they condescendingly told us that we need to remove the stopper.. Really now? no need to be condescending. ) -The room was not vaccummed. -The towels were dirty. -The inn did not honor or coupon as we booked ON their website online - nowehere on their website did it say that if you have a coupon you must book by phone. Although we asked for a smoking room it was worse than a cigar bar.

Nice place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/08
Good clean rooms for the price. I thought it would be worse but it is probably as good as the Travelodge. They musta renovated the rooms from 2 yrs ago. I would definately stay here next season !

Reasonable Expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/08
First, this is a MOTEL by a navy base, not an INN. The town of newport is dotted with quaint lodgings called INNS, but they are high dollar. If you are looking for a place to sleep while you do something in Newport, I found this place adequately clean and safe. The room was dated, but had the basics. The sheets were laundered and without stains (the opposite of other reviewer's on this site). In a town of $200/night is a reality, this is an adequately priced option. This is not the place to bring someone for a romantic getaway (unless you are nostalgic for "Officer and a Gentleman"), nor is it the place to bring infants who crawl on the floor. I would stay there again if I just need a place to sleep.

Will definetly stay here again....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/07
The gentlemen at the front desk were very cordial. The room was VERY clean and everything worked fine. The beds were comfortable and you couldn't beat the rate. It was very close to the beaches and everything Newport has to offer. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Very good experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/06
I was scared before I went to stay there because of all the bad reviews I read online. I had a reservation for non smoking room. I stayed there two nights.I asked manager some questions about motel, The manager told me that the hotel is under new management since last three years and every year they are doing more and more work in the property to make it better. I told him to show me the room before I take it, He gave me the key of the room to see it. I really believed that they have done lot of work in the property. The room was very clean, beds were very comfortable, even they have refrigerator and Microwave in the room which you don't see in many frenchise hotels. This motel is away from the busy street so in the night time it was very quite. I am writing this review just to let everybody know that there are many people staying at this place and most of the people who like the place generally don't write the reviews, only those who don't like the place write the bad reviews. I strogly recommend everybody to stay at this place.

You Get What You Pay For!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/06
I decided to stay at the Pineapple Inn because of it's ideal location and inexpensive rates. Luckily, I only reserved one night. It was 11:00 at night when I arrived at the Pineapple Inn, I had been awake since 5:00 that morning. All I wanted was to take a nice hot shower and go to bed. That is when the nightmare began. The shower was cold, had no pressure, and the bathtub was clogged. I called my boyfriend in to see if he could fix it. He pulled over a handful of hair our of the clogged tub. I was absolutely disgusted. I am not picky when it comes to hotel lodging. I just want a clean and comfortable place to sleep. I could not believe my eyes. It was obvious that the cleaning crew did not even touch the shower. I think a public bathroom may have been cleaner. I then notified the man on duty of the situation. His way of fixing the problem was to fiddle with the shower head and tell us it was fine. He further offered to put drano down the tub while we waited but we opted to be moved to another room. We did not recieve any discount or compensation for the terrible experience. The Pineapple Inn may be an inexpensive option for lodging, but it was completely unsanitary. To avoid a potentially disgusting situation, pay a little more and stay somewhere else. You get what you pay for!

STAY HOME, do NOT stay at The Pineapple Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/06
My friend and I reserved two rooms for the fourth of July weekend. For $130 per night we expected cleanliness and a safe atmosphere. As we pulled in to the parking lot we both started to cringe. The "housekeeping crew" were hanging outside a room with their supplies, smoking cigarettes and listening to loud music. This was our welcome to the Pineapple Inn. Our second clue to runaway is that the front desk charged my credit card up front!!! My fault, I didn't request to see the room first. Our room was HORRIBLE. I am not a hotel snob, but this was ridiculous. Our "neighbors" lived at the hotel and were hanging out in the front drinking gin (they made sure to tell us) and were having people over. The room itself was filthy and moldy. There was a greasy substance all over the door, and we pulled the bed covers and realized the sheets were stained. After about 30 minutes of calling other hotels we decided it was worth shelling out some extra money to stay somewhere else. Although the Pineapple Inn was very VOCAL about their no refund policy, I politely requested some type of refund. The woman at the front desk was extremely polite and called her manager. As expected, I would do the same, he did argue a bit but eventually relented to giving me a FULL refund. The truth shall set you free. I let them know the room and hotel were not up to par from what is advertised on line, and to charge $293 (tax) for two nights is ridiculous. Can't argue with that. About 30 seconds after he agreed to my full refund, he loudly commented that my friend and I (both young females) had been checked in for an hour, and accused us of certain behavior that was extremely offensive. I quietly handed him the hotel key and suggested he check out the room, which had not been touched. We received a full refund. If you care for your safety do not stay here. I can deal with less than nice hotel accomodations, but the atmosphere was shady. Newport is expensive and it's hard to find a nice affordable place during the 4th. But it's not worth it. Besides, we explained our situation to the alternate hotel and they found us a nice room, clean, and safe. Regardless of the Pineapple Inn's policy, if after you check in - you are not satisfied, do not leave until you are fully refunded. By law, they do not meet their end of the contract.
