Port Delou, Demotte

My husband and I have been going to Port DeLou for 14 years now. We first started going as a get away from our everyday stresses. We really enjoyed the place and could relax and be with each other , leaving the rest of the world out of our minds for the night. The cabin is always clean, the pool water was not always warm enough to our liking, but we would just tell Lou, and he would make sure is was right for us the next time. We are not fond of the waterbed, but for 1 night we could tolerate it, after all we really enjoy the pool and the jacuzzi. The price, compared to other places we've researched, is very affordable. We will continue to go back each year as long as they are open.

My boyfriend and I needed a romantic getaway and did alot of research on places close by. We found Port De Lou. We decided to give it a try. I was excited about it having a pool & hot tub inside our private "cabin" I think thats what they call them. That being said. I was very disappinted at how cold the pool was. it was too cold where we only tried getting in once. the hot tub has a 15-20 minute timer that you have to keep turning on to get the tub warm. it took about 45 minutes of re starting the tub jets before we could use the tub. The well water for the shower had such a order to it, I didnt wash my hair. The bed i think is the worst part of it all... a waterbed... I think the owners need to upgrade the beds. the bed frame is beautiful. I think they need to buy a nice matterss and put in the waterbed frame.besides waerbeds was something in the 80's and it had something hooked to it that I believe was supposed to make the bed vibrate. it only made lots of noise, so not sure what it was intended to be. The air conditioner wasnt working. in the room part where the bed,tv stereo and little fridge was seemed to be chocking us as to how warm it was. Just glad we went there before the A/C was really needed, Theres no windows so venting it with the cooler air from outside is not a option. Dont misunderstand the owners keep the cabins very clean, neat and pretty to look at. The property is very nicely land scaped as well. But I think they need to do a little upgrading even to the website... I think the next grown up get away I plan it will be at Serenity Springs in Laporte... You dont have a pool, but there is a hot tub there in your private cabin... not to mention the extras that is offered there. Serenity Springs gets my vote and money hands down.....

Come here for a beautiful and romantic getaway !! It was definitely a first class resort, and deserves a 5 star rating. Everything was perfect . Bring that special someone here for a night you'll never forget !! We'll be back !! Mark and Lisa Y

There is nothing to dislike about Port De Lou!!! Lou & Terry Are the BEST!!!! My Husband And I Have been going here for 8 years now, and have also referred many of our friends, Which none have been disappointed and also have gone on more than one occasion. I would Never go the Sybaris, Anyplace that will rent a room for 4 hours at a time could'nt possibly be that clean. Port De Lou is so clean they even vaccuum pictures into the carpeted walls. I HIGHLY recommend this as something to experience in your lifetime!!! The Wooleys'

So worth the money to be in your own little world...the perfect getaway for holidays, anniversaries, or just a little romance! It truly was a magical experience!!

IT WAS PERFECT!!! MY HUSBAND TOOK ME THERE ON OUR ANNIVERSARY--THE ROOM WAS GORGEOUS...THE POOL WAS PERFECT...IT WAS LIKE BEING AT THE SYBARUS..BUT WITHOUT THE DRIVE AND ALL OF THE RESTRICTIONS. IT WAS SO SECLUDED AND THE SCENERY WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I HOPE TO GO BACK THERE ON OUR NEXT ANNIVERSARY :)

There was nothing to dislike! The place was excellent - I have been to the Sybaris 5 times - I would go to Port Du Lou over the Sybaris! The only reason we went to the Sybaris was we could afford that - that is the only problem with Port Du Lou - the price is up there, but it was well worth it!

I love Port DE Lou. A great place to have a romantic getaway. Almost like the Sybaris but more reasonable in price. Location is convienent for me for I live in IL and have family close to the location. Very quiet get away. ENJOY
