Always Good Memories
By ,
Although the outside of the buildings don't look the best, every room we have ever stayed in was very clean and spacious. The view of the lake is very nice also. The bar is one of our favorites and we often frequent it even when not staying overnight in the the Poconos. It is very entertaining there. The bartenders are very friendly and we always feel like regulars. We have been enjoying The Tavern by the Lake for over fifteen years.

save your money!!
By ,
Memorytown is a memory. the place was great not too long ago. it's been neglected and rundown. the owner takes your money knowingly. the only saving grace is the tavern which is not owned by memorytown. don't bother you work too hard for your vacations and getaways.

A trip down \"Memory\" lane
By ,
I recently went to the tavern with some friends. I had been there 20 years ago and it has not changed. A typical local place with live bands on weekends. It definitely made an interesting and fun evening.

FOND MEMORIES
By ,
I am 41 years old and my parents used to take me to memorytown when I was a little girl. We would eat at the tavern, go to the candy store and paddle the boats on the lake. We would spend hours just walking around the grounds and little stores. I have such fond memories of this place. I have brought my husband and children here and we love it. We rent a room go to the tavern have dinner and cocktails and listen to the bands. The kids (13 & 16 yrs) love listening to the bands ior doing karaoke along with us, where at home they are trying to get away from us. We look forward to seeing the older gentleman who is always dancing around and singing and other antics. It's not the greatest accomodations and it's very sad for me to see only the tavern open. I'm afraid one day it will just be gone. We will continue coming here building our own memories for as long as we can

Dirty Dump...Stayed here 10/12/06
By ,
We stayed here for a weekend in October 2006. We knew it was not the lap of luxuray before we arrived as we were told by the management they are very rustic cabins. Our room had to be cleaned after we arrived. The same girl who had cleaned the room before our arrival was just let go after we complained from doing a poor house cleaning job. The comforter had smeared dog poop (as you can bring your dog here). The bathroom floor was not washed and had dryed dirt foot prints and that too had to be recleaned. The carpets are very old and dirty and the furniture was stained, wood was dented and nothing matched with the decor. We were thankful when a new girl came back to clean again we saw that she did change the sheets so we knew the bed we slept on was clean. The board of health needs to come out to inspect these cabins, the roofs and wiring, as our smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling and was not fully connected. Our cabin didnt have screens(not that we needed them in October) but the 1 window lock was broken, so if any one wanted to get in they could have through the window. There are to many other places that want your money and will give you better sevice. Don't stay here. The tavern is also going down hill as well. It used to be a well maintained clean estableshment but no longer.

Worst place I ever stayed!
By ,
Must have been the owners that wrote the other reviews because they sure don't describe what I experienced. The place was clean - but it had a horrible musty smell. The view from the window was a deserted building and 2 ft. high weeds. The other rooms were all full, and we did see some men sitting outside in front of their rooms, but ours was the only vehicle in the whole lot. The bed had a flat sheet with cigarette holes in it over an old mattress. I would have complained, but no one was available in the office the whole time I was there (one night)- My husband was checked in earlier by someone, but after that - no one was ever around.

Great place to visit, but....
By ,
This is a nice little getaway. Tavern by the lake is quaint and full of antiques. Cabins are right on the property. It's fun to listen to the bands, have some drinks, a meal, and not have to worry about driving home. Each room has it's own fireplace! Very romantic. What do I dislike? I can never, ever get in touch with anyone in order to make a reservation. When I do get in touch with someone, it seems as if it were just luck. There is an answering machine that tells you they will call you back, and they never do! They are very nice there, but their customer service is a little on the weird side. Other than that, I'd recommend it highly, if you can get a reservation.

We always look forward to the next time at Memorytown
By ,
I loved the little cottages around the lake, each with its own fireplace. This is the perfect setting for a quiet romantic getaway. Driving distance to everything in the Poconos. Nice bar on the lake, good live music! Sets the tone for a good time to be had by all! Can't wait to go back again!
