Great location.. thats about it!
By Not impressed, 1/2/12
Location was awesome! However, if you dont NEED to be downtown i would recomned staying somewhere else. You are paying for the location.. rooms where cute but not worth the price. I was also not impressed with the hotel staff, not friendly..almost even rude.

Will NOT recommend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/10
Apparently they charged a cancellation fee, took it right out of my account and did not even notify me! I left a voicemail and emailed the owner to discuss. TOTALLY ignored me. Another manager said the owner/manager had received my message and asked if I'd like to leave another voicemail. Why? So Icould be ignored again?? No thanks. I used to recommend this place because it had sentimental value but when the service goes this bad, I have to say, it's relatively run down and if cleanliness is an issue, check your bed linens before you get in.....I will be booking my relatives and business travelers elsewhere from now on!

Way beyond expectations
By robin-m, 5/2/09
My son and I stayed here during a college visit. We both loved it -- the unbelievably comfy high-quality linens and pillows, the in-the-middle-of-everything location, the GREAT double shower head shower, nearby restaurants, friendly staff etc. One of our favorite hotels ever. We will be back.

Feels Like Home...
I was taking a trip to Ft. Collins recently and was originally planning on staying at the Ramada, mostly because of the low rates they have since I do not have a big travel budget. Boy, am I glad I didn't. I was reading the reviews that had been submitted by customers of the Ramada that had recent stays with them (which happened to be very bad) when I read from another reviewer that he recommended the Armstrong Hotel. I did a quick search and I liked what I saw. The price was very reasonable and the rooms seemed more personal, more cozy looking. The reviews were raving, so I went ahead made the reservation. The staff was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable on the phone and also in person when booking me in. When I entered my room I was very pleased to find a room that kind of reminded me of a old style collage room. The walls were soothing, inviting tones and there was tasteful artwork not only on the walls in my room, but also in the main hallway. My room had a finished beautiful wood floor. The bed had a white bed spread on it with a bunch of fluffy pillows. I liked the white bed spread opposed to the standard hotel bedspreads that have obnoxious bright patterns on them. It felt more like my personal bedroom. The place smelled free of smoke and very clean. I noted this immediately upon entering my room being on how Im allergic to smoke this was very pleasing to me. The bathroom was so clean I could actually see my reflection in the tiles and the tub. I was so shocked to see how clean this bathroom was. Somebody took pride in doing a good job when they cleaned this room. I mean the baseboards, corners, everything about this bathroom was detailed. I love to take a hot bath in a clean bathtub, so this was very inviting to me. This tub was actually cleaner than the tub I have at home. Since I had to leave my cat home for my trip I was missing her very much. Much to my surprise and liking the hotel has an on call kitty named Oreo and we are buddies now. Even if I didn't go back for any other reason (which would not be the case) I will go back just to see Oreo again. He made me feel like I was at home. Only one down thing that I can find to say about the Hotel is that the walls are a little thin, and I could hear the neighbors and people coming and going from their rooms. And I would like it if the Hotel got a on site soda machine and vending machine. I dont want to have to go to the coffee shop in my PJs... All in all this is one of the best experiences I have ever had at any hotel. I would highly recommend the Armstrong Hotel to anybody that appreciates cleanliness, great service, convenient location, and competitive rates. The over all feel of this hotel was more like that of a bed and bath than a hotel. I will be back! Thanks Staff! (and Oreo) :)

Noisiest Hotel Ever?
By Simon, 4/30/08
If you want no sleep, stay here. The trains, the clanging heating pipes and the city trucks revving their engines for over an hour at 4am will keep you awake. Thoroughly disappointing, especially when this was our wedding night. Wouldnt ever stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Awesome Hotel
The hotel room was very clean, the staff was very friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel is in an awesome area. They also have New Belgium Cruiser bicycles that can be used for free. I had a great time in Fort Collins and the hotel greatly contributed to that.

Fun Place to Sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/06
I really enjoyed my stay here. My boyfriend booked the motels, and I was surprised that he paid as much as he did. The sheets and covers were to die for, I wrote down the brand names, they were so nice. The room was a bit small, I thought for the price, but the nice colours of the walls made up for it. We were right over the street and it was noisy the first night as we left the window open. The window was actually a double window that really blocked out the noise when we closed it and we slept uninterrupted the second night, although I think there was still quite a ruckus going on outside. It was nice and I really enjoyed staying here.

Location Location Location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/05
We went to Ft. Collins to visit the New Belgium Brewery and they recommended that we stay at the Armstrong. What a great recommendation. You can put away your car for the stay because most everything you would want to see is within walking distance. If something is a little further than you are wanting to walk, then you can check out a beach cruiser bike from the Armstrong's fleet. You can stay in the Armstrong for two weeks and never eat at the same place twice. Great food and coffee are very close to the Armstrong. Beer and wine drinkers need not worry because most of the great food places have outstanding beverage selections as well. We stayed on the street side of the hotel on a football weekend and it was noisy until 11:00 p.m.. I should mention it was extraordinary nice outside so we kept our windows open and there were tons of people out and about so it might be a little quieter during the rest of the year. We had free high speed wireless internet which allowed us to make dinner reservations from our room as well as get directions to stores we wanted to visit. There is a really unique bricked pedestrian mall not too far from the Armstrong that had a lot of unique shops and boutiques. The beds and pillows were really comfortable. As you lay in bed you can almost imagine what these rooms must have been like back in the roaring 20's. Our bathroom was all white tile, porcelain, and chrome. All of it clean and functional. My wife wants to remodel one of our bathrooms based on our Armstrong bathroom. Lastly, I should mention the staff. We drove twelve strait hours from Iowa and arrived around 8:00 am. They allowed us to check in early so we could grab a little sleep and not totally burn a day. Usually early check in is noon, but 8:00 a.m. is just plain doing someone a favor. Being cyclist, the Armstrong staff made sure we had access to four of their cruisers bikes 24 hours a day which we took advantage of often. All of the staff had a great knowledge of the area and were able to recomend places to eat and drink. We look forward to staying at the Armstrong next year when we attended the Tour De Fat bicycle ride.

We wouldn't stay anywhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/05
The Armstrong Hotel is a special place to stay. It has a long history that is reflected in the lobby and rooms, but it has been beautifully renovated and has the conveniences we look for. I don't know about all rooms, but ours had a refrigerator, coffee maker, and a microwave. The TV was very nice and we got plenty of stations. The atmosphere was charming, and it was easy to picture the rooms as they might have been a hundred years ago, something that really sets this place apart from the normal chain hotel. The location is perfect; it's right in the middle of the downtown area. We walked everywhere. There is a coffee shop right downstairs and many, many excellent restaurants within a block or two. (We tried a place called FISH and truly had one of the best meals we've ever had.). But, ultimately, it's the quality of sleep that is most important, and that is what I enjoyed most about The Armstrong. Our bed was incredibly comfortable. We were on the back side of the hotel and it was pretty quiet. The rooms right over the town may be a bit louder, so if you are a light sleeper, that may be something to ask about. Overall, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when we return to town.
