Great Location
By ,
We really appreciated the staff's efforts to make us feel at home. This place is located within two miles of RMNP and has plenty of attractions around. It's not in the middle of town but not all that secluded either. (A perfect combination for out of towners who don't know their way around) It's perfect for those who want to stay close to the park and do some sight seeing as well. We stayed in one of the standard rooms and found it plenty big enough for the two of us. I would recommend this place to visitors looking to get away from the typical motel atmosphere and be treated with Colorado hospitality.

Already planning to return ASAP

Sad to read previous review False Advertising, some people obviously look for the negative in any situation. We really enjoyed our stay. The scenery was great! We were glad to be so close to RMNP and not on the busy side of Estes Park off 36. Resorts on that side of town do not have the trees and rock formations that Sunnyside does. The resort was very quiet and relaxing. We also appreciated that our dog was a welcome guest. The cabin we stayed in was spacious and clean with everything we could have wanted. We found the kitchen and equipment to be quite satisfactory for cooking quick meals which was all we wanted to do after a day of hiking RMNP. We all enjoyed the recreation room especially the Chai tea, herbal tea selection and tasty popcorn. The staff was very helpful, even came over to set the right channel on the TV for us to watch DVDs since we were technically challenged. We give this resort a thumbs up!

Great stay!
By ,
We rented cabin 7 at Sunnyside Knoll and LOVED it! Private hot tub and outdoor grill and patio were great, the bed was comfortable, daily towel service was much appreciated, and the full kitchen was nice when we wanted to stay in and saving some money on food. The only down-side was the electric stove and lack of non-stick cookware combined with the altitude--it was sometimes quite a challenge to cook food like we're used to at home, but at the end of it all it was only a minor issue. This resort is very close to RMNP and not in the middle of town, which was also great. We highly recommend it and hope to visit again soon.

Can't wait to go back!
By ,
My husband and I just got back from a one night stay at The Sunnyside and couldn't be happier with our visit. We decided mid-week that we wanted to get away from the city (Denver where we live) and revist Estes Park where we were married and stayed at The Stanley Hotel 9 months prior. We wanted to check in earlier and they made sure that our cottage was ready. Anita (I think that was her name, she mentioned that she normally doesn't work on Sundays) was just the nicest woman and super accomodating. I don't know why a previous reviewer was dissappointed with the Rec Room but we thought it was wonderful! The pool table was a blast, they had menus from the local restaurants which helped us make our lunch location decision, there was a jukebox, free yummy chai tea, coffee and assorted teas. We loved the little deck outside our cottage. Upon arrival, we thought that the proximaty of our cottage to the road would be a problem but we barely heard anything. There was a cute little man-made "stream" next to the cabin that drowned out the traffic noise. We had neighbors but didn't hear a peep. The giant rocks and boulders on the property (and behind our cottage) were super cool! In the office they have a large selection of free dvd and vhs rentals which we took advantage of. We just had to borrow The Shining to watch that night. The tv was small, but just fine. I don't know about you, but when I go to "get away" I could really care less about the television. I think the previous reviewer that complained about their flat screen tv not being suffice would probably complain about anything. I mean, come on, you're in Estes Park turn off your tv, step outside and look around! For dinner we opted to stay in and eat out on our deck, they had a gas bbq conveniantly located close to our cottage with a little fountain right next to it. It was perfect. We brought our telescope with us so that night we set it up on the grounds to star gaze and what a great setting it was! We cannot wait to return to The Sunnyside Resort for a longer stay!

Great time
My husband and I stayed at Sunnyside Knoll for our belated honeymoon. I believe we stayed in Unit 14 or 10 not sure. We had no neighboors and had plenty of privacy. The owners were very nice and made us a homemade picnic lunch to take in the park. The hot tub was great especially after a long day of walking. We could even borrow movies to watch when we just wanted to stay inside. Another nice touch was the guest books in the room, you could read about other people's stay and see all of the different states people came from. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and hopefully will get to stay there again sometime. I definately recommend them to everyone.

False Advertising

The properties website boasts privacy as a reason to stay. We found that it was the complete opposite. We booked number 18 for two nights. While in the room we could hear our neighbors very clearly in the next unit. This then led us to try to be quite in fear that they would hear us as well. They also advertise a plasma tv and dvd player in the room. The t.v. picture quality was horrible and the dvd player did not work properly. You will also have to cart your luggage up a good number of steps to reach the unit. Upon check-in the management explained that they had a wonderful rec room. When we visited it was a cheap pool table and some stale popcorn that they had available. As stated in the other review there is better places to stay in Estes Park that would also include a view of the wonderful scenery.
