fifth time to stay here...
i stay here because its the cheapest place in town, and whenever i come to chico, i always have to stay for at least a week (i'm a grad student at the university). true, it's not the waldorf-astoria, but i wouldn't classify this place as a "dump." it's $35 a night!!! what do you expect? egyptian cotton sheets, room service, and daily massages?! please. if that's what you want and can afford, go to the hotel diamond downtown.
for $35 a night, i have a bed, fridge, TV with about 60 cable and local channels, a shower with hot water, an AC that works, a coffee maker, wi-fi access, and a small pool. that's more than enough for me. there's housekeeping service every day, and i think the room's lighting is fine. the people who run the place are nice and friendly, and whenever i need something, they don't hesitate to help me out.
the place is in walking distance to a variety of fast food places, restaurants, and grocery stores (raley's, jack in the box, carl's jr., blockbuster video, osh's, java detour, dairy queen), and if you have a car, it feels like it's the centerpoint of the city. esplanade is between mangrove and nord avenue, and i can get to anywhere in town within minute, even the other side of chico, since 99 is about two blocks behind the motel.
i always travel everywhere with my own blanket and pillow, so i can't comment on the bedding like i am forced to use it; however, i can tell you that i am a HUGE germaphobe, and i don't freak out about touching any of the surfaces and textiles in my room. i know for a fact that they clean the rooms every day, because i hear the vacuums going all the time. i'm actually staying at the motel now to do my thesis defense...got in on the 27th of march, and am leaving the 6th of april.
