The Beachcomber Motel, Fort Bragg

My wife and I have stayed at the Beachcomber Motel numerous times over several years and have never had a bad night. The best place in Ft. Bragg. Duster

The furnishings and cleanliness are first rate. Thinline tv. Comfortable bed and chair. Only 2 complaints. Small bathroom and your neighboors can see into your room from the deck outside and vice versa. It's well worth the stay.

The rooms are very nice and clean, furnishings excellent. The decor is very pleasing to the senses. There is a 32 in. flat screen tv on the wall.We had an ocean veiw room to watch the sun set over the water in the evening. If you plan to stay there, and I recommend you do, the bathroom is very small and the venting is not the best, although there is a window to open. Bring some bathroom spray. The balconies are very close. You could climb over into your neighboor's balcony and vice versa. If you tend to be paranoid you might be uncomfortable. We didn't mind. We love the location and the newness of the furnishings. Nice staff. The sea gulls are very friendly.

I Love Beachcomber! the view is wonderful and the quality is great! we stay here often and we always enjoy it! the staff is always able to give up to date advice on local resturants and make recomendations on great places to visit! you can call them and ask for directions and they with give you CLEAR directions anytime! Not to mention the easy location! just drive down main st north of Fort bragg, ca! I hope everyone headed to Fort Bragg decideds to stay with them! Thanks !

We stayed here this past weekend for 2 nights. By looking at the photos on the website it seemed like a nice place to stay. They say on their website that they are a 5 star resort. I would hardly call it 5 star maybe a 2. Pretty much like a old old holiday inn maybe. We stayed in the Spectacular King room. The room was spacious but the bathroom was very small. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the view from the balcony (would have been better without the large tree in the way). Our slider did not lock and neither did the screen portion. Called the front desk the first night to ask how to turn the A/C on and was informed that they did not have A/C. She did offer to bring us a fan and so that was nice. We would stay here again but might think twice about the 150 dollar a night price. I think 100 might be more appropriate. It was convenient to all the beaches and so that was nice. All in all we enjoyed our trip.

the location was amazing.....just steps from the beach. Be sure to get an upstairs room so you have the best view. The rooms were clean and nice. Staff is friendly. The cost was a real bargain as well. Would def go back and recommend to friends and family.

Loevd teh location, people were nice, the floors were a little dirty from all the beach stuff tracked in by prior visitors. But was a great deal, and the beach is just a short walk. Found lots of beach glass. Recommend the Skunk Train ride.

I have stayed at this motel many times over the last 20 years. They have done a lot of adding-on & made some very nice changes to the rooms. Every other time I have stayed, I have been very happy with it, because the rooms were pleasant and the location is really wonderful, right on the beach. This trip...my room was very run down and not clean. There was severe water damage to the ceilings that was only partially repaired, and not well repaired (sheets of drywall were just screwed into the ceiling, unfinished). Room was billed as a "spectacular king" with a balcony & wonderful view. View (straight out) was wonderful, but balcony is anything but private. Was in a line of 8 other balconies that were completely open to each other. Although the rooms were all non-smoking, guests in other rooms were smoking on their balconies, and the smoke blows into any room with the slider open. I was not really able to enjoy the balcony, view, or fresh air because of this. In addition, because the Pudding Creek Trestle is now open to foot traffic, walkers on the beach trail are directly outside the rooms in this part of the hotel, less than 10 feet away. Foot traffic was significant at all hours. I was decidedly uncomfortable with this aspect of my stay. I would no longer recommend staying here if you are not prepared for the lack of privacy. Other parts of the hotel are set farther back from the trail, and would probably offer better privacy, but I believe they are the more expensive rooms.

After a long day of travel, we needed a quick overnight stay with our dog. The Beachcomber was described as 'dog friendly,' but we didn't expect as much as we got. The desk staff was very friendly and welcoming, and our room was simple, but clean and, as with all ground floor rooms here, had instant access to the sidewalk/bike path out back that linked the beaches and parks in the surrounding area. Hop right over the sidewalk and you're on a cliff looking down to the ocean, and with a quick jaunt down a small trail and suddenly we were on the beautiful, big beach, which we shared (on a bright sunny afternoon) with about 4 other people. Our 4-legged travel companion loved it all. There were hoses on the back deck to wash her off after her ocean swim, and the Beachcomber even provides towels especially for the pooch. It was appealing enough to plan a small trip to Fort Bragg again in the near future for an extended period of time.

When we opened our door and stepped into the room, we all said "WOW!" Through our back window we had the most amazing view of sunset over the ocean I have ever seen. I didn't want to go get dinner until I had taken picture after picture. Many places advertise "Ocean View". This motel delivers! We ended up staying two nights in an upstairs room with two queens. I kept the drapes open as much as possible or sat out on the balcony to enjoy the view. As some of the other reviewers stated, the rooms are pretty standard. The carpet is old and stained, but clean. The bathroom "didn't have room enough to swing a cat" as my grandpa would say. The towels were very nice, much softer than the usual hotel towel. The mattresses were a little past their prime, but we still slept fine. It was fairly quiet, with a little noise from the road earlier on Friday morning. We could hear the downstairs neighbors get up at an ungodly hour, but since we both had kids I tried to be understanding. We didn't try to get to the beach from the hotel. There is a walking path that goes right by the hotel, but I didn't see where the beach access was. I saw several families hiking up the bluffs, but we never got a chance to investigate how much of a hike it was. All in all, it was a nice, safe place to stay and explore in the Ft. Bragg area. Just understand you are paying for the view...but I think it was worth it!
