Amazing Trip Across the Lake/Lost Opportunity
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/11
Used to go there in the summer with a buddy's family in the 80's. One summer I met one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen, who turned out to be the granddaughter of the owners. She was there from Southern California, but had to fly back soon. We spent a great deal of time swimming, talking, getting to know each other. Total infatuation at first site. The day she had to leave, we took a paddle boat across the lake, while my buddy tagged along. There was a little island across by the dam, where we parked the boat. My buddy nicely left us alone and one thing lead to another and we ended up kissing. That was all, but we spent a long time doing it. So long, that she had everyone looking for us, and when we got back she had to hurry in order to get to the air port to fly home. Alas, I never got her number or address as she was hustled away by family. Not much time goes by ever since then that I don't think about her or the short time spent with her. I remember her last name was Bryant. Who knows...maybe she will read this and remember it too. I have been back several times since, most recently last year, but never saw her again. Would love to know what happened to her, and hopefully she has had a great life. Who knows, maybe one day we might even run in to each other and find out about the last 27 or so years. Stranger things have happened.

Beautiful Lake but Poor Management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/10
We love Scotts Flat Lake and have been camping there for four years with our family. We always have fun down at the lake, swimming with the kids or fishing. However, this last time was very unpleasant because of the noise level was out of control and we are not quiet people by any means. The management simply does not enforce the quiet hours. We have continued to go back because we love the lake itself so much but I don't think after this last time we will be returning anytime soon for several reasons. Obviously people now know that the management doesn't enforce the rules so it is a perfect place for those people to come and party all night and when I say all night I mean all night. Plus this was the first time we have ever had bear problems there and they are very "whatever" about it. The use tin garbage cans that anyone, especially a bear can get in to (did every night we were there) and obviously if that many bears are getting into the garbage they need to invest in bear proof dumpsters and garbage cans. It wouldn't hurt to have bear lockers as well. We had everything locked in the back of our truck but a bear still came into our campsite in the middle of the day and was on top of our picnic table just sniffing around and when my husband tried the shoo him off the bear walked towards him. When we told the workers they just said "oh I guess he was hungry and looking for food". They should at least make sure every camper knows and stores their food properly (which we did but it still didn't stop the bears). Also, they do not enforce the dog rules and the same disrespectful campers were letting their pitbull roam the campground unleashed nearly the whole time. People were speeding through the campground going the wrong way down one-way roads. It was crazy!!! It makes me sad that such a beautiful spot is so poorly managed. The lake front sites are amazing but not really worth it when you take everything else into consideration. I truly hope they realize a family campground should be a safe campground as well. I would go back if they started enforcing the basic rules and added some bear proof garbage cans and bear lockers which they clearly need.

Pretty location, but that's about all
By Steve, 6/22/09
This was the 1st time visiting this campground for us. We stayed 2 nights over father's day weekend with a group of 4 other families. We had a couple of speedboats with all the toys so everyone had a good time. Our camping spot was large and shaded which is nice. Spots by the lake are really nice for families with boats but obviously hard to reserve. Overall experience was pretty mixed. Evenings are basically like camping at an all night tailgate party. I'm fine with people having a good time. Just be considerate and calm it down at a reasonable hour so families with kids can get some rest. Instead, we had multiple groups around us keeping parties raging on until past 2 am both nights. Blasting music, screaming kids, foul mouthed parents with out of control kids.... There was also some dimwit playing with his cheap car alarm setting it off and resetting it continuously until 4:30am. The campground rules say noise restrictions are strictly enforced after 10pm. Not the case at all. Clearly security at this campground is weak and overwhelmed, so rules are ignored. If you like to visit campgrounds with cool and considerate campers, this is not the place. I'd say come up for the day and head home.

great place to take the family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/08
Scotts flat was a great first experiance for me and my family. The campgrounds were very clean and there was plenty of trees for shade. If you like fishing for rainbow trout then this is the perfect place to fish, swim or hike.
