Windwood Fly-In Resort & Amelia's Restaurant, Davis

My husband, daughter and I were vacationing in the Caanan Valley area and found Amelia's restaurant. We were welcomed by our friendly, cheerful waitress and seated in a very nice, very clean dining room. The food was homemade and everything we had was excellent!!! My husband had the BBQ ribs, I had the shrimp and my daughter had the fried chicken ~ all excellent! All of the rest of our meals ~ baked potato, the HAND-CUT french fries, fresh salads and bread, even the freshly prepared vegetables were excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would go back if anywhere close to the area.

Several years ago we found this because other hotels,lodges were full. I am so glad they were. It's off the beaten path, which is just great. It is quiet and a beautiful location. The atmosphere is great and every time we have eaten there it has been very good, don't need to go anywhere else. The help is very pleasant. We have been going there for approximately 10 years now( we were on golfing trip nearby), now we go every year. Going this weekend.

Each of the spacious rooms has its own deck/porch providing two entrances and is perfect for storing your cooler and ski equipment. The restaurant has the best breakfast you will find anywhere in the area--tasty homecooking at a reasonable price. There is a small game room for the kids and available meeting rooms for large groups. Since we "discovered" the Windwood, we don't even bother trying to book anywhere else.

The Windwood sets off the road, we found it by accident. We weren't looking to be entertained by the resort, but it has facilaties if you want to swim or work out. The location puts you close to Hiking trails & senic overlooks at Blackwater, Pendelton Lake, restrants, gas. Quaint little towns. Definitely a slower pace.
