Highly Recommend ,Great tree views-Lake setting
By CNinspections, 3/19/12
From Paddle boats to a Eagles nest in a tall tree overlooking this Lake.Dirt sites are set with descent privacy, convenient to OHV staging area. bbq pits were clean, bathrooms clean , after 10:00PM was quiet as it should be. Plenty of off -road trails nearby. kids enjoyed the Lake,we enjoyed not having to worry about unleashed dogs near the water. A great camp rule. " Relaxing"

WOW
By Big Red, 7/30/11
Was up that way a couple of days ago to go fishing. The host was not very friendly to say the least. She wanted 25 bucks per person to fish and 5 bucks for the dog to come in. She told us to go to Suger Pine. We did and enjoyed the evening fishing and swimming.

Good Time
By Incredible Pets, 7/12/11
Morning Star is a beautiful area and the lake is just the right size for family fun. The sites for camping are a little small but more than enough for a weekend. The water is warmer than most mountain lake and the surroundings are great. The lady at the office was very polite and courteous. The only negative was you have to call in the morning to make reservations and you must pay cash, money order or Cashiers Check as they have no Credit Card or ATM facilities and they do not take personal checks. This is inconvienent but, they were willing to hold your site for a week to pay for the reservation. The have fishing, paddle boats for rent, bike and ATV trails. All sites have Bar BQ's, fire pits and picnic tables but no hookups. Only water availabel to be toted. They do allow generators. My family has been 2 or 3 times and we always have fun.

It does have its moments..
By Shannon, 6/25/10
The lake and campground are beautiful.Perfect for families. The host are the owners so there is no changing that, but the next generation are a little nicer. Yes they could handle things differently, yes they are rude,Hopefully they will change their attitude. But the fun in the lake is worth it.But who knows how anyone react with having to deal with different kinds of people?

Don't Judge a Book by a Cover!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/10
It could not be said any better about the management. It was our first time visiting the camp along with a few of our family and friends who make this trip annually. The camp site itself along with the lake and nice dirt bike trails is breath taking, however, that changed instantly after an encounter with the management. They are the worst hosts and most of all unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. In my profession you would looking for a new job. They are an embarrassment to both the camp and the ownership of the camp, as well as, themselves. There are plenty of ways to uphold rules and regulations, however, it is totally uncalled for to treat people like s!*% (trash) especially in front of their kids, family , and friends. I always follow the rules and set an example to my family and especially my kids. I want them to have a good time, that is what vacation is all about. We wanted to get away from all the "A"holes, not vacation with them, breathing down our throats. I kind of kick myself because we were advised prior to making our trip up their by multiple people about how rude and completely out line the management could be but we blew it off and figured how bad could it be? Are only intentions were to spend family time together and do the whole fishing, camping, dirt bike riding thing. When a campground offers all of these activities management needs to expect that sort of crowd and families to come up and vacation at your campground. If miserable as a manager there than I think it is really your time to go and manage a senior home or special needs facility. The pace will be just right for the managers at Morning Star Campground. As soon as we arrived they left a bad taste in our mouth. During our check in they were very pushy and persistent on trying to convince us not to camp there because of the bad weather and as if they did not want to deal with us. We were then asked how many people in our party, I said "3," later that day while setting up for camp management saw our dog and was extremely confrontational about why I did not pay for the dog fee, which I was never aware of, in addition. was never asked if I had any pets during my check in. "So how do you deal with people that have an education of a second grader living in the woods?" Well, I made it very clear that I would go up to the front and pay for the pet fee since I was unaware of the fee. In addition, my family and I were falsely accused of random actions making our stay very uncomfortable. This is just a pinch of what you will be getting yourself and your family and friends into if and/ or when you visit Morning Star. I would strongly urge that if you are going to visit Foresthill area to really find another campsite until they change and get rid of their old, salty, crusty, trashy, filth of what they call management. In my all my experiences I have never been treated so poorly. They absolutely ruined our vacation as a family and made us have regrets for not listening to the advise given to us initially. After reading and comparing all these reviews they are right on. I am not to sure about the one 5 star one sounds like they are a little to close of friends with the management but to me 14 out of 15 is good enough for the consistency that the manager are doosh bags. I am all for rules and regulations to keep disciple and order but upholding a reputation to be a complete "A"hole to people and degrade their integrity as a person. I would never go back and I cant wait to check out the other campgrounds for next year.

Stupid Rules! Nickle and Dime you!
By Katherine, 10/5/09
I understand having rules and being liable and making sure everyone is safe. but Come on!! No skipping rocks in the lake, cussing at campers for breaking a rule (they didnt even know they were breaking) and calling them idiots for doing so. There is one thing having rules another in how you enforce them! Driving by consistantly checking on us...more like looking for a rule your breaking to yell at you! Spots were small, lake was pretty but charged $10 A DAY to fish!!! Even for a 4 year old child who everyone knows that they arent going to catch anything standing on the shore line! Give me a break! Charge for extra car, dogs, etc. Nickel and dime the HECK out of you! Toliets were HORRIBLE, at least clean them and drop a pill down there to help sanatize and deodorize them!!! Wish we went somewhere else. This campground could be so nice and fun if the grumpy managers didnt work there. They also dont give discounts to Vets....WHAT!!! Have some care for those who have served our country! Though it was pretty lake and surrounding, I will NEVER return to this campground and WILL NOT reccommend to anyone until new owners or they change there ways...which I doubt would happen.

Hosts were RUDE
By Mike D., 8/11/09
The lake was beautiful but the sites were teeny tiny. Their 3 sites were the equivelant of 1 any place else. And the toilets...STINKY!!!!! The hosts were RUDE. And the person who says all the complaits are from party people...not so. I went w/my family (3 small kids) and although the slow speed limit was appreciated, that's all that was appreciated. They nickel and dime you for everything and the hosts have the worst customer service attitude I've ever come across. I think the person who posted the positive comment is the camp sites facilitators trying to get in a good word for themselves! I will never go back adn would never recommend this place to anyone! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! The only reason I gave it 1 star is becasue there was no 1/8 of a star option and you have to put something.

REPLACE THOSE MANAGERS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/09
rude and nasty people. place is great but the managers are modern day natzis! the person who said if you follow the rules, you won't be bothered and the only guests in trouble are people who party 24/7 is wrong! they look for anything or any reason to make your experience miserable. i hadn't been camping in years, i have 5 year old twins and a 4 year old so needless to say i don't party and every little thing we or the kids did brought on nasty looks comments and just in general rudeness. the managers need to realize where their bread is buttered and no guests equals no money for their paychecks! beautiful lake but bad, bad staff!

NEVER AGAIN!
By Bud, 7/18/09
Made a reservation on Wednesday for a lake front site. Showed up on Friday night at 7:00. Walked up to the window and the response was, "Nope, we just gave that site to someone else." So, after spending all the time packing and driving up there, we were out of luck. I will NEVER go back to Morning Star. BTW - The first three campers we saw looked like ex-cons.
