great place to stay
By John, 3/12/12
I don't know where all this bed bug stuff came from because I have been staying there for the past four years, in different units, and haven't seen any bugs, let alone bed bugs. Great place to stay, very close to the Gondola (5 min. walk) and right next door to Harvey's. If you need kitchen utensils, all you have to do is ask the mgnt. The units have full kitchens, nice beds, TV, great hot water and good room heaters. You can't beat this place for the price and location. The cabins were probably built in the 1920's so you can't expect marble countertops, but they are clean, neat and quiet. Although they have been upgraded to current standards, they are very quaint, with lots of old character in each unit. These are individual units so you don't hear the guy next door sneezing, or the idiot upstairs tromping around like an elephant, as you would in a motel. You won't be disappointed.

Enchating Rememberance
By Donna, 2/26/12
I have stayed at Doc's on many occasions. The rustic nature of the cabins is fantastic. The person who claimed there were bed bugs is out of their minds. I have enjoyed the richness of Doc's many time and would highly recommend it to all my friends. Anyone who passes this place up has no heart. The owners are very friendly and will make you feel very comfortable. They claimed they were there Labor Day weekend, well we were there a few days after that weekend and with my allergies I would have known if there were bed bugs. So as far as I am concerned this was just a disgruntled customer who probably were just unhappy and tried to get a refund.

will not stay there again bedbugs
By uul u, 9/12/11
i stayed there labor day weekend for 2 days in cottage number 4 only reason i stayed there with my girlfriend was we couldn't find anything else due to labor day (it was saturday night) when we leave monday morning something had bitten us when i told about it to manager he said it can't be bedbugs cause they don't have bedbugs it could be something else so i believed him cause it was only few and it wasn't itching or anything until next thursday insect bites came out all over my body and itching like crazy i looked it up online yeah it's bedbug bites Bed Bug Bites Bed bugs feed on blood as their only source of nutrition. In order to mature into adults, they must feed once during each of their immature stages. Adult females also need blood in order to produce eggs. Although bedbugs do bite humans, they are not carriers of any diseases which are transmittable to people. Bed Bug Bite Bed bugs pierce human skin with elongated beaks, through which they extract blood. Bed bug bites are not initially painful and can go unnoticed for hours or days. Some individuals who are bitten by bed bugs develop itching, red welts or swelling the day after being bitten. However, bites may not become obvious for several days on some individuals. Many people do not react at all to the bite of a bed bug.

Will stay here again!
By Janet, 7/7/10
We had booked online a hotel (pinecone inn, don't even go there!) and would not stay. We had seen Doc's on other occassions and decided to try it. Very nice. Clean, comfortable private cabins, within walking distance to everthing. Moderatly priced. Has full kitchen, no microwave. Only con I could see is there are no dishes, silverware etc. which seemed odd with a full kitchen, but then we did not use it. I really loved the overal feel and look and we will stay here again in the future!

Wow! Is this a movie set of the 1930's!
By John, 2/19/10
I took my two daughters to Doc's and the felt like they were in their own little cabin. The knotty pine paneling, kitchen net and two separate bedrooms were very charming. We felt like we were back in the early '30s. Loved the place! The beach, shops and ski resort was all in walking distance. The price was right too!

No AC, but cute
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/09
If you want a place to crash, and with a kitchenette, it's nice. If it's in the middle of July, and in the 90's, and you don't mind waiting until 3am for the room to cool down to the 70's, then it's for you. Any other time of the year would be better than July, because there is no A/C. If you want to save a few bucks, it's for you.

You are only sleeping there
By Andrea, 2/4/09
This place was excellent as far as conveinece goes. The romm rates are cheap and it made me feel like the owners aren't just interested in making a buck. Yes, the rooms are outdated but who cares!!! You are coming back to sleep after a drunken night of gambling! If you want an updated, smoke free, over the top decorated suite with picturesque views then you are going to pay an arm and a leg for it somewhere else. Plus, you can usually park your car right out front of your door

A Great memory to renew each year.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/08
I like the coozyness for a couple and the closness to the Gambling. Plus the central location to visit other areas around the Lake. NV and CA sides. Your date don't go back far enough. June of 1986 I believe was the last time.

Great place!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/08
We stayed at Doc's Cottages in July and loved it. It's true there is no coffee but there is a coffee pot. The rooms are updated with tile flooring, beds are old. The curtains and bedspread are also a little outdated, but we still loved it! very quiant and we will be staying there everytime we are in Tahoe. We paid 75.00 on a Saturday night!! Beau is awesome and very accomodating!! See you in November Beau!!!! Pamela and Greg

A lot of $$ for no amenitites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/08
Always wanted to try this place since it backs to Harveys and looked cute. Per night fee was over $115, no shampoo or conditioner, no hair dryer. Decorated in thrift store fashion, with clashing carpet and bedspread. Kitchenette had cups only with coffee pot and NO coffee. Patio has chairs and no table. Tv remote was dead. 1950s, 1960s decor. Towels are the size of kitchen towels and the supply reeks of cigarette smoke, as did the office. Buyer beware. Spend your money for another less expensive but kept up place. I feel sorry for the honeymooners in the review. You must be from a really poor area if you thought this was a great place to stay. Location is within steps of the casinos and a short walk to the lake. Maybe great for a family of 4/5 who plan to bring ALL supplies and cook own meals without assistance from management or poor students who can sleep 4 in 2 bedroom.
