Colorado River Adventures just bought Ghost Mountain a couple months ago. They have some of the nicest resorts in Arizona and Southern California. Everyone at Ghost Mountain is very busy fixing everything up. The staff is new... the attitude I got from the employees was great. I can't wait to see the dome they are putting over the pool. Just like the one they have on the pool at KQ Ranch in Julian. It will be open year round. I like these guys already.
For many years my family has been a long time member, through the changes and transfers and our age has made it hard to get there and enjoy the times we had when we were younger. We are in out eighty's, the other day we were invited to visit placerville and see whats new and where the company is headed... I was shocked to see the place in shambles and run down... The kicker was where the rep explaned for only $7000.00 we could be a new part of the vision for the future........ I relized this has turned in to a money pit and for all the dues i have paid in over the years..... I will never be back.... My intent was to pass it on to my children so they could enjoy more of the past.... Not on your life it truely made me and my wife sick to see how they treated this once enjoyable place to camp in the summer.......................
This is a new Colorado river adventure location. After reading the previous reviews we did not seem impressed. Decided to see for ourselves. First we found out all the previous comments were from the prior owners. We were met by Todd and his wife who were so friendly. Even though the park is not open and going through a remodel he told us about the plans of the park and urged us to take a look around. They are painting, trimming, the pool looks amazing and Todd seems very excited about this new venture. The park so close to apple hill and south lake Tahoe plus the smell of the pines is so inviting. We told him we would see them when it opens and can't wait to go!! The road in is narrow but there are turnouts when meeting up with a fellow camper and they are currently trimming the lower branches on the trees.
We are members of RPI and ROD. We have a Fifth Wheel and took a leisurely drive from our home 60 miles to the resort to see what the RV Park was like and the road into the resort. Much to my astonishment, they would not allow us to enter the park just to look around for 10 minutes or so without an actual reservation (even though we are members and had no intention of staying ovenight!). We have never been so rudely treated, even from parks that we are not members, much less a member park of ours!!! Thank goodness we didn't pull our fifth wheel over there. The road is two way and extremely narrow. If you met a rig coming out, you'd scratch up the side of your rig trying to pass each other.
We won't be going back!!! And we will be in communication with ROD and RPI to let them know of this unacceptable treatment of its members.
We're a member of RPI and we love this place. We were there Labor Day weekend and the whole family had a great time. Everybody is friendly and there's lots to do. Very clean, including the bathrooms and showers. Best hamburgers at any campground we've ever been to.
We're a member of ROD and we love this place. We were there on a holiday weekend when there was live music and a barbeque. A very relaxing campground with a beautiful pool area and plenty of entertainment for the kids.
I don't understand the two previous reviews. The place is dirty? It's a campground in the forest not the Holiday Inn. We didn't see any trash or litter anywhere in the campground when we were there. And you're mad because you were asked to leave when you stayed past check out time? Give me a break. If you wanted to stay longer then you should have paid for it. Nothing in this world is free.
First I would like to say that the facilities were clean and well kept. However, the staff was EXTREMELY rude from the time we got there until the time we left. On the day of check out my daughter wanted to go on their horseback tour at 12:00, which is check out time, so while she was on the ride we decided to hang out at the pool until she was done, since it was about 90 degree weather, within 45 minutes we were approached by 2 different staff members and reminded that check out was 12:00. I told them that as soon as my daughter was done with her ride we would be leaving, they had no problem taking our money for the ride, At 1:00 I was approached by a man who told me "check out is 12:00 and you have to leave the property NOW!" he proceeded to tell us that we were "stealing" from him by using the pool while we waited, we had just paid for 3 days and nights there. The place is a membership campground and I do NOT recommend going there, save your money for places that are family friendly.
Hands down best membership/private campground we've been to, Just the amount of things Ghost Mountain has to offer make it one of the best, They have horseback riding, a number of shops a restaruant/bar, movie theatre, with movies playing back to back throughout the day, pool, game room, imediate access to the Eldorado National Forrest with hiking, biking and OHV trails, the actual campgrounds are awesome with large spaces and the entire park is/has always been very clean. Take everything you hear about the staff with a grain of salt, they've bent over backwards for our family several times and they try to make sure EVERYONE has a good time, Check'em out!
We came on a free weekend during Springtime and loved the place. It's a beautiful forested campground and the family had a great time hiking the trails. We joined the membership because it's a safe and fun place for our family, not a bunch of people partying all night long. The staff is friendly and keeps a close eye on the place.
I had reserved months ahead for this place because i needed a "bachelorette" weekend before my wedding. Myself, and a few female family members wanted to go here-to CAMP. A family member of mine wanted to check it out too so she tried to reserve and then I got a call from Ghost Mountain Ranch less than 2 weeks before my reservation. A VERY rude staff member informed me that i wasnt allowed to just "party" there and that it was only for those who wanted a membership. I tried to explain that we were just going to camp, NOT to "party" but she insisted that it wasnt okay even then. So, if you dont take my advice not to even try this place-just make sure you tell them you're only going so you join the membership and that you dont plan on enjoying time there-youre just there to spend money. Im sure they would welcome you then.
