WIlliamsburg Plantation is beautiful. The resort is a short drive-5 minutes- from Richmond road, just far enough to be away from a lot of traffic. The view from the balconies on the backside is not the greatest, but trees and such have been planted, they just need time to grow. My family and I found the experience enjoyable, and are going back. From reading other reviews, the most favorable seem to be those that visited in the summer months. The resort is also not far from Colonial Parkway-we got to Williamsburg in 15-20 minutes with fairly heavy traffic. Also the resort is not far from the Theme Parks, if you have accurate directions. My family and I have visited this area numerous times to see family, and have found the location to be very suitable, and the accomodations to be pleasureable.
My family and I stayed with Williamsburg Plantation in February 2007. From the time we arrived, to the time we left, we were extremely disappointed in all facets by this resort. The 4 bedroom unit lacked quality furnishings, beddings, appliances and materials. The carpet, tile, wallboards, etc...were all substandard quality. Luckily, we were not there in warm weather, because the balconies do not have screens to protect from mosquitoes and behind our unit was a half acre cesspool. Nothing about Williamsburg Plantation is 5 star. The facilities, such as the pool, gym, etc...are junky and not up to industry standards. The views and atmosphere is poor. Even the location of the property in relation to the many attractions in Williamsburg is inconvenient and out of the way.
The City of Williamsburg is known for having abundant motel and hotel rooms along the main strip (Richmond Road) that are clean, cheap and convenient to the shopping, historical attractions, the golf and the restaurants. Williamsburg Plantation is near none of this. As mentioned, this resort is definitely not 5 stars as claimed by Interval International or by the resort itself. Of the two dozen properties I have stayed with the last 5-6 years, this is the worst of the bunch and we were very disappointed. I estimate it to be no better than 1 to 2 stars, if that.
To top it off, we agreed to go to a sales seminar to get free stuff. This is where it became interesting. The salesman was very very rude, used profanity when we told him no and actually threatened physical violence on my husband when my husband stated that we were going to complain to his manager. The single most worst experience we have ever had at a resort or timeshare. I cannot stress this to you enough, avoid Williamsburg Plantation like the plague.
