Lupin Lodge, Los Gatos

Thank heavens I didn't read these reviews before going up! Some of these folks are pretty judgmental/ strange. I loved this place. We had driven up a few times during the day, but never stayed overnight. The yurt was spotless and clean, a bit spartan but roomy and nice, and a short walk (like 30 steps?) to the nice restrooms (all outdoor access in the yurt area, but indoor bathrooms are about 25 yards south adjacent to the restaurant just off the social area room). Staff is friendly and kind, got us the perfect yurt and left us alone to enjoy the hot tub by moonlight until after midnight, then we headed back to our heated yurt, electric blankets, down comforter, and talked and snacked until almost 2. Deer, raccoons, pet cats, possums. even a skunk or 2 out at night to watch, all under the lovely full moon. The restaurant is nice, good selection, and our entire overnight stay was under $90.00. If it had been summer we probably would have gone swimming after dinner first, and used the sauna in the morning. These folks have been up in the redwoods for almost 80 years and there is a rustic, natural charm about the place that is not for the wait-on-me-hand-and-foot crowd. But for sheer QUIET and LOVELY nothing beats up in the mountains.

I came to Lupin Lodge Resort expecting a typical resort but this one had it's own special warmth to it because it was more than a resort it was a community. This place had a nice little restraunt with beautiful art work all around and it was so magical when one of the residents came and serenaded us with his own music apparently on their grand piano. All the people I came across where so welcoming always saying "hello" and asking "how I was doing" and they weren't just friendly to me I noticed they where like a family just loving everybody they come across. I was a little sad when I arrived because I couldn't get anyone to come on this little vacation with me but I found out I really didn't need anyone because there was so many people that live there already that are open to interacting with the visitors that I always had a partner when I wanted one. I will definitely be coming back to this spot with or without someone.

The land had a really good energy to it I caught myself in really peaceful moments walking from one stage to the next while there was hundreds of people roaming the land you still always have the chance to escape on this wide landscape. This venue allows a big diversity of people to come together and enjoy all their different experiences in harmony. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Lupin Lodge. Wonderful place for families or couples. Very special experience. Very respectful of individuality, body acceptance. As a woman I have never felt safer anywhere. Good food, great staff. Lot's of special events on weekends year round. Bring your dancing shoes but leave your swimsuit at home.

The setting is beautiful. but the members are older and seem unfriendly to new guests. A lot of men (old gross men) were obvioously checking me out. Very creepy Staff were a lot of really dirty looking old hippies with no name tags. Some were rude and unhelpful. The bathrooms were dirty and so were the yurts.The food is horrible. Like a cafeteria. There are scruffy people working in the restaurant. The pool is crowded and there is no room for swimming. If you need help you must walk all the way back to the office. Some of the yurts are quite a distance from the bathroom. A dark and scary walk in the middle of the night. The place looked trashy with old trailers at the front that were obviously abandoned. That's the first view you see when driving in. We should've turned around then.
