Best spot in America
Thank heavens I didn't read these reviews before going up! Some of these folks are pretty judgmental/ strange. I loved this place.
We had driven up a few times during the day, but never stayed overnight.
The yurt was spotless and clean, a bit spartan but roomy and nice, and a short walk (like 30 steps?) to the nice restrooms (all outdoor access in the yurt area, but indoor bathrooms are about 25 yards south adjacent to the restaurant just off the social area room). Staff is friendly and kind, got us the perfect yurt and left us alone to enjoy the hot tub by moonlight until after midnight, then we headed back to our heated yurt, electric blankets, down comforter, and talked and snacked until almost 2.
Deer, raccoons, pet cats, possums. even a skunk or 2 out at night to watch, all under the lovely full moon.
The restaurant is nice, good selection, and our entire overnight stay was under $90.00. If it had been summer we probably would have gone swimming after dinner first, and used the sauna in the morning.
These folks have been up in the redwoods for almost 80 years and there is a rustic, natural charm about the place that is not for the wait-on-me-hand-and-foot crowd. But for sheer QUIET and LOVELY nothing beats up in the mountains.
