I saw the other persons feedback and had to leave my own. My family vacationed there last summer and we saw none of the problems that were mentioned. We went swimming daily never saw a problem with the pool. The cabins are clean as is the yards. The resort is far from falling down. In fact for a older resort it is very well kept. We saw no bugs. The owner and the help were very nice and helpful. They go out of their way to tell you where the best places on the lake to fish are. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back many times over! Maybe the last post was a disgruntled former employee.
We not only bring our family each year, we always bring others along to share the little piece of heaven on earth that we found at Blackburn's. They then come back with their family and friends and thank me for sharing my "secret".
Family vacations that I remember best as a child didn't include places like Disney; they include friends & family and time we spent together laughing and learning things like how to fish, and telling "fish" stories building memories.
Seeing our kids learn to fish and finally catching their first one is truly an event to remember. The owners of Blackburns were right there to help photograph this event and even posted it in the game room for everyone to see. How proud our little one was to have everyone around there praising her for her catch of the day! She really felt like a fisherman when we left & it was the highlight of her trip & ours too!
Blackburns Resort is a fishing and family haven. For the area it's no doubt the best bang for the buck. If they don't have something you need or have forgotten they always find it for you! Although our family goes every November for a nice break before winter we try to get down occasionally in the early in the summer or spring too!
Our picky (rather prissy teenager) LOVES the clean big pool; whereas our younger one loves the big clean lake to swim. It's perfect for them to learn to skii since the boat traffic is by no means dangerous for little ones to be out on the water during the afteroon. (Opposed to other lakes in our area.)
The stroll to the lake from the cabins is not unusual for the area since one of the desirable aspects of Norfork is that it is mostly government property not commerical. This makes the wildlife seem untouched.
If you are ever in the Mountain Home area this is the place to stay! You could not ask for better people. We have been staying there for several years. We like to fish and the lake has been good to us. The cabins are older but clean. And the price is right.
