Accommodations at Peyton's Place include cottages for couples or small families, a lodge with 48 beds, campsites for tent camping, and an ten RV sites. Peyton's also has a camp store and offers canoe or raft trips on the Illinois River.
If you like to drink and have fun, I would not ever stay here.
They don't give you warnings, they just kick you out.
They are not friendly at all, they acted like that couldn't give a rip about us or our business.
The showers were disgusting and so were the bathrooms.
I grew up in that area from around the age of ten. I remember when Peyton's Place was first built. It was the first major floating resort in that area. Archie and Virginia Peyton bought and developed the property. They have small really cute cottages for rent as well as a small apartment. It was originally a resturant that had the best smoked ham, beef, and ribs, served with the best homemade bbq sauce and coleslaw ever made. They had New York Strip steak served with a big baked potato with sour cream, butter,& chives or fresh cut french fries, (I should know, I use to have to peel hundreds of them) and a simple side salad made with romain lettuce & tomato and beau monde seasoning served with fresh ranch dressing, blue cheese or french dressing. I really miss their sliced or chopped bbq beef sandwiches, which was one of the perks of being an employee, plus I got to sling canoes as soon as I got off work! Since I moved from Oklahoma, they have since made camping areas, and the resturant is now a small country store, Ginney and Arch are no longer with us, but their family still carries on the business, and I believe they still sell the bbq beef sandwiches! If you get the chance go check them out you'll be glad you did, and Yes! The guys that take you and your canoes to your start point have always been good looking and sweet to boot! They will always be a part of my "family" and I always go visit when I get back to Tahlequah! Make sure you try their sandwiches!!
I had a great time at Peyton's Place! The owners were friendly. The driver of the bus that takes you to float was really good looking and friendly. They have all the basics that you might have forgotten up at the store and they have good crowd control down at the camp grounds. You can have a good time without worring about people being overly disruptive. The showers are warm, the ground is clean, and teh staff is excellent. To top it off the view is spectacular from the river as well as the camp grounds. Fantastic place to stay.
