Knollwood Lodge, Hot Springs

Great beachfront & swim area, friendly owners, right on the water, close to town (Hot Springs), clean cabins. Can't say enough good things about the place or the family who owns/runs this.

I have to admit, I was disappointed that I couldn't get a cabin on Lake Catherine but after finding this place, I'm thrilled! I loved it here! It was close enough to town to be able to access anything and everything, yet it felt like it was miles away from civilization it was so relaxing! I was right on the water, which was my main criterion for a place to stay, and I did not want to leave. The owner, Philip, went above and beyond to be helpful to everyone and visitors in the other cabins were just as friendly as could be. I would suggest adding a microwave to cabin 8 but otherwise perfect! I have already recommended it to 2 people. Looking forward to next trip.

Knollwood Lodge was just what we needed. We had a death in the family and needed to get away for a bit to recover. Knollwood Lodge was just what we needed. We stayed in a small cabin right on the waters edge of Lake Hamilton. The cabin had old country farm house decor (which I love) and was completely furnished with everything but your clothes and food. The cabin was cozy and clean with a dock, porch swings, and chairs right outside our door. It was so nice to be able to watch the boats on the water at night when it was quiet and peaceful or to have coffee on the porch in the morning while listening to the birds sing. We were able to grill out and just relax when we chose to, or take a short car ride into Hot Springs for shopping or spa. Owners couldn't have been more accomodative and nice. We spent our summer vacation at Knollwood Lodge this year (2010). It's was a very relaxing time. The kids loved playing on the beach each day, and there's a nice covered pier where you can sit and watch the sunset. I don't remember the last time we had so much fun in one place. The little house we stayed in was very cool, even when it was extremely hot outside. You can see the lake from the breakfast table. There was cable TV in the living room and both bedrooms. If you need towels, you can get them from the cleaning lady each day, or walk down to the owner's house. The Lodge is only about 10 minutes from a Wal-Mart, so it's easy to go get sunscreen, hotdogs, and chips. Phillip, the park owner, was very accommodating and even loaned us a couple of fishing poles, so my boys could fish. There are many things to do near by. During our vacation, we went hiking, boating, fishing, and swimming (daily). We even drove into Little Rock to catch a dollar movie. I definitely recommend Knollwood Lodge to anyone looking for a nice place to take a family vacation.

We arrived at Knollwood Lodge Cabins and was greeted by the owner Phillip. From the very start he made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean, cozy and after a long day in the 100-105 degree weather playing and sight seeing we would come back to the coolest rooms with a view over the lake that seem to go on forever.. We want to thank Phillip and his family for all their hospitality. If there was some place we wanted to go Phillip and Melody made sure we knew how to get there. Melody even took the time to gather us up some brochures of things to do around town. You would have thought we were the only family there. My mother wanted to fish a little and Phillip told us where to get the bait and where was the best place to fish. My mother caught a few fish and had the best time doing it and that is all that counts. This was the second time in 10 years my whole family was able to get together and go on vacation. I am so glad I found Phillip and his cabins. P.S. We especially loved Bam, a Black Lab that made sure everytime there was a kid in the water she was there to. When we tell people about our trip we always mention Bam and what a joy she was to play with. Again, thanks for everything and we will be back. Sanda Sanders

There was nothing to dislike about this place, My husband and I with our 2 kids, 8 and 6 along with my Niece and her husband stayed in the house in the front #1 it was elegant. So nice to look out the back sliding glass or kitchen window and see the lake or sit on the back patio wrought iron table with umbrella for breakfast. Loved to sit on the deck built on the water while the kids played on the beach or playground (BIG PLUS). The Kastner family was wonderful, he made us feel like he had nothing better to do than be our personal guide and sat with us both days and talked with us, but don't be fooled he is up every morning cleaning the beach and grounds. I will try to post pics here bc the pics online do the place no justice, bc you feel secluded, it's quiet you can't help but feel the stress melt away. We all loved the residents most unique black lab we have ever seen called Bam, she loves the kids and is very protective, while we where at the water another little girl fell over by the shallow water on the beach, Bam came running from the other side and stood by her to make sure she was ok. She also splashes in the water on her hind legs with the kids and searches underwater for sticks LOL to cute. Do yourself a favor don't stress to find another place and stay here, I will bet you will love this place! We loved it so much we asked for jobs to move there!! Oh and there is a floating dock to jump off of, NICE!!! There is also bbq pits at the place, but there is a BIG bbq pit by the lake that is nice, we did for Memorial Day! It is very close to Downtown Hot springs we did not want to stay to far and this was perfect for anything we needed. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed right down to the toaster and trash bags. The beach was perfect for the kids and they loved playing with Bam, the owner's dog. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. We will definitely return next year!

My wife and I took our two children (5 and 3). The cabin, number 7, was quaint with 2 brand new beds. My kids loved the beach and sand, and the Kastner family were great host. Our daughter who is usually afraid of dogs, loved playing fetch with Bam. The fishing off the dock was nice, as well as being right on the water. I would highly recommend this Lodge to anyone, and plan on returning again in the future. Next time we would love to bring a larger group. I did not see one bug in the cabin for our 3 day stay.

We loved this location. It was quaint, tidy, cozy and had a wonderful view. There is nothing like waking up with a view of Beautiful Lake Hamilton in your face. We have stayed in high rise condos in places like Panama City FL, Bed and Breakfasts in many locations. Never have we felt more relaxed and happy in one location. What a treat to play catch with the owner's dog too! Watching the sun on the lake was awesome. I was able to relax and really enjoy myself. The trip to Hot Springs was a surprise for my husband's birhday. There was a Collector Car Auction going on there...I think he enjoyed the cabin as much as he did the Car Auction.

This place is awesome. Everything you need. Secluded, but only about 5 minutes from any store you need. I strongly suggest "the love shack" cabin number 8, if you need a romantic weekend away. I suggest getting up early to enjoy the view of the lake and a cup of coffee.
