My husband and I visited the ElDorado for our anniversary. We stayed the entire weekend and we were both very satisfied with our stay. The Sportsmans Diner has the best prime rib sandwich I've ever eaten!! We were both very pleased with the casino and the atmosphere. We would recomend this hotel to any of our friends. The only dislike we had was the seafood buffet. We expected better food. It was ok, but it was cold. We plan on visiting the hotel again soon. We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time! The staff was very nice and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. There was plenty to do with the lounge, the restaurants, the spa,the casino and the gift shop. We never even left the hotel the entire weekend!
I went to the Eldorado expecting to have a fun night. I drove over 2 hours to get there late on Friday night for a one nights stay only wanting to play blackjack. I noticed very quickly upon starting play that the dealers have a serious issue with their sense of humor, and personalities. Even the pittboss was a bit too blunt and bossy. They forced our $5.oo minimum table to $10.00 without even offering to grandfather us in at the old price, and made no such offer to explain why. It seemed done on a wim because the table was winning, but who knows. It is the first casino I have ever been to, that didn't at least offer one $5.00 table on the floor at all times. After being up over a $100.00 I quickly lost the $200.00 I had brought to spend and retreated to my suite to get my lady and head to the retaraunt for some grub. Although dissapointed with the way things went on the floor, I was still quite chipper and in a good mood due to the fact that at least I was out of the house, but the staff (all 8 of them, I counted) were just sitting around doing nothing, not worried about anyone in the resteraunt, when I did finally order, (sweet and sour chicken), it was like chicken jerky, and there was a fly in my tea. I asked for a new one, and didnt even so much as here a "sorry bout that sir", just a umm hmm sound coming from one of the waitresses, Shaniqua, or Yolanda, couldnt tell which. As positive as I tried to stay throughout the whole trip, the rudeness of the staff, and Im not sure if it is just towards white people, was enough to make me never want to go back. I think Ill start going to Oklahoma, the Native Amercans do it better!
I love this casino because I don't smoke but I am still able to breath. I do wish for a no-smoking room.(think about it)
I play mostly table games,at least 4 times a week. It is a pleasure to see Cathy, Mitzi,Tim and the gang. They are always full of fun but very professional. The other people seem to enjoy them also. They tell you in such a nice way, "you need to play a little longer to receive a comp,"always with a smile. They listen to problems before making a decision. I do think Cathy with the gray hair could be a little nicer, not just to whites but blacks to.She never smiles when I'm there. We avoid her, so we are still happy. Over all this is a great place to visit and have a good time!
The key to a friends room did not work. She asked me to go to the front desk for assistance since she is handicapped. (The time is approximately 9:30 p.m.) I did. The desk clerk (Dorothy) told me there was nothing she could or would do since I was not the registered guest for that room. Okay... I agreed. Could Dorothy have someone go to the room and unlock the door? "NO", she replied. Dorothy insisted the guest come to the front desk herself. Approximately 15 minutes later (after making numerous suggestions and re-instating that the guest is handicapped) a manager intervened and was kind enough to send security to the room. The door was unlocked and the individual (security) offered to take the key, re-program it and return it to the guest. Finally. One of my biggest concern was what if my friend, myself or another guest were stranded at the room with an unworkable key and a "not-so-kind" individual had control of your key, etc.....?
My husband and I have been going to El Dorado for many years since it was Hollywood. We have stayed at most all the casino's in the area. We just keep going back to El Dorado.
El Dorado is our favorite for all the right reasons.
We feel that El Dorado is the closest thing in our area to Vegas, which we love also.
Not much rest!!!
Wonderful service at VIP, Linda is the best.
Overall when we are tired of the big city we go to El Dorado and just have fun even if we loose.
Most fun is had when we come home a Winner!!!!
Would never stay any place else.
The overall experience of my stay at the Hollywood was very poor, mostly due to the rudeness and uncaring attitude of the staff. It's my belief that if you are going to spend approximately $200.00 a night, you should be treated like they want you to stay with them again, not like we have your money so we don't care any more. When I talk about the staff, I mean everyone from the Valets, front desk staff, resturant, casino, even those in the gift shop, customer service was completely lacking everywhere. I have been to all of the other casinos in the area, this was by far the worst one.
This Shreveport hotel Casino Now has a new name, The El Dorado. We decided to spend our Memorial day Holiday away from the DFW area and get in a little gambling action. First impression is the place is pretty clean and efficently run. Our Quoted rate was $64. The room was pretty nice, big king size bed, oversize bathroom. Really pretty nice. The casino was pretty nice, nothing overdone- but what you would expect.
Late that evening we decided to try the buffet. Price was 13.99 per person so we were expecting something pretty spectacular, BIG dissappointment. Most of the food was cold and had been out for some time so dont waste your time or money there. Go across the river to any of several chain resturaunts.
When we came back to our room we noticed an odor all night that smelled like sewage. Could have just been some plumbing problems but a problem nonetheless.
Upon checkout our total bill was $72. (taxes etc.)
Overall our stay was not terrible, Would I go back ? Probably, but there is much room for improvement.
