Booked this place for a week(The Starfish Condo) at the end of September and fell in love while I was down there at first. Our 3rd day there we were ambushed by huge 2 inch long cock roaches. The place looked clean enough but for some reason these huge things started coming out from under the fridge and dishwasher...One right after another until we finally packed, left, and stayed at a Baymont in Savannah. The place was cool and gave us our money back(probably because the lady could hear me crying in the background, as i am super afraid of these bugs) but still...no one should ever have to deal with something like that on a vacation. This ruined my whole trip and I will probably never go back there again. I still dream about these bugs on a reg basis. I would stay in Savannah and commute if I were you.
Had been to Tybee for one day trips, but decided to try a week. Fell in love with the island. SBRC was fairly priced, pool was great and cleaned daily, short walk to "beach". Older place, but pool, walkway, etc. has been well maintained. Stayed in 316A which is a top floor, corner unit ocean front with wonderful panaramic view. My granddaughters loved seeing the dolphin every day. Downside-bed was hard as a rock, no extra trash bags were provided, walking up 3 flights of stairs several times a day was tough. There is an elevator, but it is all the way at the other end of the building. Would stay here again, but try to get a 2nd floor unit. No view from 1st floor units. Great time was had by all... me, daughter, 2 granddaughters!
We rented a condo here and were not displeased. the wlak to your own beach was not very far. Sure if you want to go to the public beach you can, be sure you take your quarters or a debit/credit card, there is no free parking. My wife and I had just as soon wlaked down to the nearby beach and had privacy. The room was fantastic, clean and all we needed at a very affordable rate I might add.
We rented our condo through VRBO and were very disappointed with the condo. Tacky and run down decor . Drawers in kitchen fell out if you opened them too much! Kitchen needs a serious update!! It wouldn't take much too clean this place up.. It needs some serious TLC. Old and musty.. Fan in bathroom didn't work. old carpet and run down furniture. We wanted to open sliding glass door and windows for fresh air but couldn't.. NO SCREENS. Don't waste your money on unit 113B!!!
The beach is actually a river beach.... you have walk pretty far up the beach and around the bend to the ocean. The hallways could use a good scrub and some fans. We did see dolphins swimming in the river. For $500 for 5 nights... you can't beat it. The nightlife and main drag are up the road quite a bit.
i just returned from sbrc at tybee, condo was fine, decorated nicely, but room had a unclean feeling, last day we were there bathroom ceiling started leaking, did not like the fact had to wash your own towels and bath cloths every day. My kids were happy though, played in water with dolphins, wish beach there was more sand than mud.
We stayed in 211A and rented from Tybee Vacation Rentals and they were great, ask for Dan, he was so nice and helpful. The room was very nice, could see the pool from the balcony, my friends rented 114A from and individual and it was nice also, thier was 12 of us.It was July 3 to July 6 2009, the fireworks on the beach was awesome, the only thing I would say negative is it was hard to find a parking place if you come in late, other than that it was great, we plan on going back for labor day weekend. Loved it. and you have to eat at Bernies, great food and service,
The Savannah Beach & Raquet Club was the a HUGE disapointment. The hallways were disgusting, the room has a view of the parking lot and the apartments were small and lackluster. The pool and the beach were the only pluses to the SBRC. I would never stay here again and wish I could get my money back.
We stayed in 113B June 2008. It was confortable and convenient to the pool and beach. I have never seen more dolphins at any beach 12+ everyday.
Local restaurants are fabulous. You must go to the Crab Shack and Uncle Bubba's (Paula Dean's brother).
I definately plan to visit again.
