Beachside Colony, Tybee Island

When you stay at Beachside Colony be prepared to work. You strip your own beds, vaccum and take out your trash. If you need extra towels just wash and dry the ones you already have to share with your family because you wont get any extra. Nice view from the room but for the price of $249 a night this place BLOWS!!! Not recommended at all. Unless you like to clean on your vacation.

On Feb 14 2009 my wife and I spent the night at the Desoto Beach Hotel with a room viewing the parking lot for $100/night. After check out we strolled to the Beachside Colony and inquired about an ocean view room and was surprised to hear that unit 345 overlooking ocean was avail for $100/night. The room was outstanding and 3x the size of Desoto room complete with living room,kitchen,washer/dryer ,whirlpool, and other of course the awsome view.Just a wonderful expereience.

We stayed in unit 424. We had to ask for face clothes. You are aloted 2 rolls of toliet paper, which are econo sized, no matter how long the stay. The cleaning crew could have done a better job. After walking around barefooted you had to wash your feet. The smoke alarm (battery next to it) for hallway was in furnace area. There was no light bulb in lamp by couch so took one out of chandlier which another was burnt out. First bathroom and closet with water heater, had burntout bulbs. If the owner had been paying beachside for taking care of unit, they need to talk management about looking at the obvious. The dredging was right in front of our view. Which is beyond the control of owner. We should have been notified of the dredging. This is not the photo of an ocean view seen on website. The person in the master bedroom couldn't sleep for a couple of nights due to noise from heavy equipment and lights for working. The knives had stuck on food. Someone had put something in microwave and stained the window. I'm glad we didn't just stay around the complex for the vacation. The trip would have been really misappointing. The furniture and tv were in good shape. The bathrooms don't have mold.

My friends and I just returned from renting a 3 bedroom, ocean front unit in the Beach House building. We arrived to find sticky floors, hairs on the bathroom floors, some dirty silverware, no filters for the coffee pot, no washclothes, 4 light bulbs out, a missing smoke detector, the internet connection not working despite calls to the provider to help with the connection, and worse of all, all night noise from the equipment right below our condo that was dredging up and filling in sand. That took away the unobstructed "ocean view" that we paid more for. I do not fault the homeowner, but I do feel that the management is not providing a very good or complete service. They need to rethink who cleans and services these units. The homeowner is getting ripped off for what they pay this management and so is the customer who is renting one of these units. I would not stay here again. There are plenty of other condo units on Tybee Island to rent that I am sure would provide better a better place to stay.

Why didn't I see the other comments about unit 435 before renting?? This is the worst condo I have ever seen. Our feet were black minutes after walking around on a floor that must never have been cleaned. There is not one piece of furniture in the place that is in good repair. All the dishes were filthy and had to be washed before being used. I can't believe the management company continues to rent this place. Be careful of the 'three' pools. Think of the plastic ones you use to wash your dogs and you'll have the size just about right. They are tiny. Altogether a very unpleasant experience. I just sat for a few minutes trying to think of something good to say. I can't find anything positive except Marlin Monroes.

First of all i found the "Pool Thug" Was just doing his job as a pool servicemen and my children had as much fun as a child could have in the pool the only reason that he was ever direct to me was to tell me(very politly) to remove a floatie from the pool and was a saftey percotion. And My Room Was the most beautiful room you could ever rent in the new building the Gardens and i found that Jessica was very helpful and was very poliet too. it was the best trip to tybee we will ever have and hopefully stay here for every trip to this magnifacent island and a Nice woman maybe 49 named Pam helped me and my children in our room when i messed up the key THANKS PAM

Beachside Colony is a wonderful family resort. Yes, you need to be careful about the unit you rent. You may want to see pictures before hand. Since the majority are owner units that can be rented through DIFFERENT rental agencies, you need to check on the units individually. This is the case in most condominium complexes. Typically, it is the OWNERS fault that the unit needs work, not the rental agency. We have stayed at many condo complexes before and this is the case at most. Some units are beautiful and some are not so beautiful. If you have an issue contact the rental agency you rented from.

This is in response to the person who wrote the review Filthy, disgusting resort and unit on 6-17-08. We rented the same unit the week after you did and I agree with you on everything you said about the actual unit 435. It was disgusting. BUT this was not the fault of the BEACHSIDE COLONY rental agency. This unit was rented from TYBEE BEACH VACATION RENTALS. That is who needs to get our comments. I found the folks, all of them, at Beachside Colony to be most helpful and accommodating even though we did not rent through their agency. Jennifer showed us the unit directly above 435 today and as gross as unit 435 is unit 445 was that beautiful and clean. SO please redirect your negative response to Tybee Beach Vacation Rentals. They are the folks who need to address our concerns.

I love the personal touch that the condo we stand in had - each room had a theme. They offered all kinds of amenities, including movies, games, etc. It was like home away from home - but, better - since in was on the beach. Would go again.

We rented unit 435 in the Beach House on the Dune part of this resort. It was disgusting and filthy. I have stayed in many beach resorts over the years, and this resort is the worse! The dishes were dirty, scoff marks all over the walls, bathtubs were dirty with mildew and mold, furniture was shabby and broken, furniture not been dusted, floor was dirty and needed swept, air vents were filthy, appliances were dirty, mattress in master bedroom had huge stain on it and was disgusting. Everything in this unit was shabby, old, in need of repair, and dirty. We complained to management only to be told it was the "owner's" fault and that nothing could be done. The pools were dirty and full of sand. This place is old and not well maintained. I would never recommend this resort.
