bad reservation service
By ,
DO NOT use there on line reservation service! If you pick the wrong site for camping they will cancel your reservation without even calling you or trying to put you in a different site! Seems like they do not care!

We highly recommend River's End and Tybee!
By ,
We didn't know what to expect in a campground right in the middle of a small town -- but it was perfect! Trees draped with Spanish moss as well as little palm trees make this an attractive campground. The facilities are great (nice sewer, good water, new electrical connections) as well as a wonderful office and laundry (the pool was closed for the winter when we arrived, but it looked great!). We were allowed to store our trailer in the parking lot when we left for 5 days -- which was very helpful! The showers are wonderful - we will miss them! It is a perfect location to access the beaches and to bike around town. The internet sometimes became slow, but we had our own hot spot as a backup. Their weekly rates in the winter are very reasonable. Rosie in particular was quite helpful and nice! We were sad to leave Tybee Island and River's End campground -- we are so glad we stayed here!

Great Customer Service
By ,
We have repeated stays at Rivers End. The 1st time we tent camped. Our site was clean, however, not very shaded. Our friends tent camped in the grassy, shaded area where a drain pipe runs through. Just a warning, do not tent camp in severe rain/ thunderstorms in the grassy shaded area near the drain pipe. Our friends woke to a flood in their tents and campground. We, however, stayed dry. The best part of this story is how the management really took care of our friends. They moved them from the tent site to a cabin for no charge. Great customer service with Rivers End. That is why we bought a pop up camper for the next 2 trips and had electric and water hook up sites. Based on the great customer service, we wil continue to camp with Rivers End when we vacation in Tybee.

A beautiful place changed for the worst.
By ,
For many years my wife and I, and sometimes our grandchildren, enjoyed camping at River's End. It was beautiful and spacious with plenty of room between spots. The last two times we have been here we have found that they have made the spots closer together to cram more and more campers into the same area. Their acreage has not increased, but the number of camping spots has at least doubled. The camper next to ours was so close that we could not open our awnng all the way. At least we still have our memories of the good times, because we will never go back and we will never recommend this campground to anyone.

BEEN DOING IT FOR THIRTY YEARS
By ,
we are campers who for the last thirty years have . Spent about 5 months a year here. we leave it and come every weekend from may till september. We loved the previous owners, but since the city has bought it we have have new friends and i must say the staff now is one of the best ever. Park workers bill and mike are simply the best. If u have a problem they are johnny on the spot to try and assist u quickly and solve your problem. We have met people from all over this country and the majority by far say they will come back. No matter how hard u try u can't be perfect all the time and people will be leave a little discouraged sometimes. But i assure you give them a try . Yes it is crowded during the summer especially because it is so popular. Tybee is the place to be and rivers end is the place to stay. Come see for yourself and look us up at lot 44. Randy and kay. We love it here and hope your visit is grand also. Most of the time when i have talked to dissatisfied campers i've found they were the type looking for a problem to talk about instead of trying to enjoy the good things going on around them.. Park manager, woody and his staff have nothing but you having fun and enjoying your time with them in mind. So come to tybee and leave you footprints in the sand.

Can't wait to go back!!!
By ,
We LOVED everything about Rivers End Campground!! We arrived at the campground the beginning of Nov 09 and stayed til March 20, 2010 and had an amazing time!!! We are camphosts there and I can tell you that I do not know how it was before the city became the owner but i DO know that alot of work was done during our stay there! My husband worked maintenance, thus he cleaned bathhouses and the cabins (let me tell ya...shave his head, give him an earring and call him MR CLEAN)!! Some sites have been re-done w/ water, electric, cable, widened, etc. I worked in the office and I have to say that it was a big change for me as a job because it was busy, even during the winter!! We are all only human and people do make mistakes but cut them some slack because you really have no idea what its like behind the scenes!! Two phone lines, sometimes only 1 staff member sometimes 2, online reservations, etc...it is very confusing and stressful at times, so please just be patient with us!! My husband and I also had to move around twice in 2 1/2 weeks but we didnt mind even though we have a 36' ft 5th wheel and 2 full size pickups. And just for the record, there are a total of 10 bathrooms within the 2 bathhouses, that ARE cleaned on a daily basis and have been repaired (I saw them doing the work myself!) As for the tent sites...not much to say there except that there have been suggestions made to make that corner better! I have to say tho that we do enforce the rules and we do not let people do as they please!! I did security runs w/ my husband numerous times and we have also had to go quiet down the tenters on more than one occasion!! RULES ARE ENFORCED and people have even been escorted off the premises for breaking the rules! We have made a bunch of new friends and have been asked to return Oct 2010 and are excited to go back! The ocean is beautiful and there is so much to do. From my experience, Savannah trolley tour via Old Towne Trolley, Tybee Island Dolphin cruise, Diamond Casino cruise, Bingo at the American Legion and the happenings at the campground which include movies on friday/saturday nights, potluck dinners in the pavilion on saturday evenings before the movie and whatever else we plan there!! So give it a shot and c'mon out to visit Rivers End Campground...you WILL have a good time and enjoy life on Tybee Time!!!!! You can email me at tjrogers_05@yahoo.com if there is anything anyone would like to know since my husband and I are campground hosts!!! Thanks and hope to see y'all soon!!!

Enjoy Life At Rivers End Campground
By ,
First I would like to say I have stayed at Rivers End as a monthly renter for about four months during 2009 and I loved it. It is a small campground but Tybee is a small Island. If you come to Tybee then you are coming here to get away from the 'big town' and enjoy the small town atmosphere of island living. Also I would like to say the bathhouses are clean and you must take into consideration that holiday trafic increases the amount of campers using the facilities (Hence more people more mess). The camp ground was quiet and I found the staff friendly and helpful. The cabins are lovely and well contructed. My family and I have no complaints. The pool was great and the game room has just re-open (without any nasty notes about cleanliness). Please note that most of the negative comments listed on this web site are from 06 and 07! The campground is now owned by the city and has a wonderful and new crew. I will come back year after year and hope you are encouraged to visit the beautiful well kept campground located 1 and half blocks from the ocean. Enjoy Life At Rivers End Camp Ground Tybee Island Ga!

Got charged one night even though I cancelled.
By ,
I got charged a night even though I cancelled four days in advance. If you read in the small print they reserve the right to charge you an administrative fee if you cancel a reservation. The fee is a full night $45.00

It was just OK!!
By ,
It wasn't the best place that we have stayed. For a campground of this size - there was only 9 bathhouses/bathrooms. And the ones nearest our camper were small, cramped (you could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth!) and not very clean. We had to ride to the larger set of bathhouses. Also, according to the website, the campground ammenties included cable tv. We were very disappointed that our campsite was one that had been forgotten when they ran the cable lines, therefore leaving us without cable tv. My two children were upset that they could not watch tv before bed. And lastly, the trash wasn't picked up reguarly. With only a couple of trashcans in our area- they filled up very fast and in my opinion they should have been emptied more often than once or twice every couple of days. All the trash caused TONS of FLIES!!!! But overall, I guess it wasn't too bad!! Will consider returning maybe next summer!! Sometimes, I guess when things become owned by the city, places aren't upkept as well as if they were privately owned or as state parks are kept up!!!

Won't go back again
By ,
The campground itself is nice. The campsites are nice and clean and most are shaded. The problem is that during the 4 nights we were there, we had to move to 2 different sites due to the fact that the staff in the office screwed up a bunch of reservations. We were not the only ones to have to move several times. There were several of our neighbors that had to move all around too just because they gave our sites away. Not a happy bunch of campers!! I made the reservation a month prior to arrival and requested a specific site. When we arrived we found out our site was given away and we would have to move around the campground the whole time we were there. I think the office staff needs to have a little training on how to manage site rental. I most certainly will not recommend this park to anyone I know. I will be sure to let everyone I talk to know how this park is run. If you like to pack up your camper several times during your visit, then this is the place to be. Otherwise maybe go to Jekyll Island. Their campground is managed so much better!!
