Enjoy Life At Rivers End Campground
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/09
First I would like to say I have stayed at Rivers End as a monthly renter for about four months during 2009 and I loved it. It is a small campground but Tybee is a small Island. If you come to Tybee then you are coming here to get away from the 'big town' and enjoy the small town atmosphere of island living. Also I would like to say the bathhouses are clean and you must take into consideration that holiday trafic increases the amount of campers using the facilities (Hence more people more mess). The camp ground was quiet and I found the staff friendly and helpful. The cabins are lovely and well contructed. My family and I have no complaints. The pool was great and the game room has just re-open (without any nasty notes about cleanliness). Please note that most of the negative comments listed on this web site are from 06 and 07! The campground is now owned by the city and has a wonderful and new crew. I will come back year after year and hope you are encouraged to visit the beautiful well kept campground located 1 and half blocks from the ocean. Enjoy Life At Rivers End Camp Ground Tybee Island Ga!

Got charged one night even though I cancelled.
By Charles, 08/05/09
I got charged a night even though I cancelled four days in advance. If you read in the small print they reserve the right to charge you an administrative fee if you cancel a reservation. The fee is a full night $45.00

It was just OK!!
By C, 06/22/09
It wasn't the best place that we have stayed. For a campground of this size - there was only 9 bathhouses/bathrooms. And the ones nearest our camper were small, cramped (you could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth!) and not very clean. We had to ride to the larger set of bathhouses. Also, according to the website, the campground ammenties included cable tv. We were very disappointed that our campsite was one that had been forgotten when they ran the cable lines, therefore leaving us without cable tv. My two children were upset that they could not watch tv before bed. And lastly, the trash wasn't picked up reguarly. With only a couple of trashcans in our area- they filled up very fast and in my opinion they should have been emptied more often than once or twice every couple of days. All the trash caused TONS of FLIES!!!! But overall, I guess it wasn't too bad!! Will consider returning maybe next summer!! Sometimes, I guess when things become owned by the city, places aren't upkept as well as if they were privately owned or as state parks are kept up!!!

Won't go back again
By Sue, 06/20/09
The campground itself is nice. The campsites are nice and clean and most are shaded. The problem is that during the 4 nights we were there, we had to move to 2 different sites due to the fact that the staff in the office screwed up a bunch of reservations. We were not the only ones to have to move several times. There were several of our neighbors that had to move all around too just because they gave our sites away. Not a happy bunch of campers!! I made the reservation a month prior to arrival and requested a specific site. When we arrived we found out our site was given away and we would have to move around the campground the whole time we were there. I think the office staff needs to have a little training on how to manage site rental. I most certainly will not recommend this park to anyone I know. I will be sure to let everyone I talk to know how this park is run. If you like to pack up your camper several times during your visit, then this is the place to be. Otherwise maybe go to Jekyll Island. Their campground is managed so much better!!

Great park for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/18/09
My wife and I selected River's End for the first time, and have enjoyed our stay. The park staff is very helpful and friendly. The bathhouse is adaquate, but could be a bit more modern. However, they are usable. The campsites are a bit cramped in places, and do not have 110 volt outlets at the power poles. We have determined that we will be back as soon as we can. It is very convienent to the ocean. There are many roads to ride bikes on, and the traffic is very minimal. Also, there is great fishing on the pier nearby.

Nice island, crowded camping
By Dionne, 07/15/08
Tybee Island is beautiful place with a charm all its own. We enjoyed the bioluminescent glow of the tiny organisms in the dark ocean water under the stars, the delicious breakfast at The Breakfast Club, and the quiet surroundings. However, the campground was very crowded, not just due to a lot of people being there, but due to the layout of the campground. Tent campers are forced to share single-sized campsites that are subdivided into two or more sites. Our tent was about ten feet away from our neighbors' tents, with no vegetation or any type of privacy-enhancing features. Rivers' End Campground tries to pack way too many people into tiny spaces, resulting in an uncomfortable camping environment. Conversations, potato chip bags, even zipping the tent door is a potential threat to rapport with your many neighbors- let alone the very prospect of quietly playing music or a board game. They also slip in extra fees for more than one vehicle or extra campers. To say a couple of good things about Rivers' End, the bath houses were accommodating and clean, and the beach is a short walk from the campground.

Not Too Impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/08
This was our first time at Rivers End. Overall it was ok but the bath houses were vert dirty. They are not cleaned well at all. It looks like they just open the doors and spray it down with the water hose. Then you come into use the facitlity and the sand and dirt makes a big mess on the floors. They are very small too. There are not near enough showers for the number of people camping there. We finally discovered the mop so we were able to try and clean before we went in. The sites are very close together with not a lot of extra room. The staff was very nice. Just need to somehow improve the bath house problem. We will however go back just b/c of the location. Very convenient to beach and downtown Savannah.

Love It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/08
We have camped here off and on for several years now! We always have such a wonderful time. Everyone is so nice. We have never had any trouble with neighbors, noisy.... We rent bikes, walk, surf, drive into Savannah to take the tours, shop, eat.... If we could move to the campground to live, we probably would! We get "homesick" for this place when we have to come home! I highly recommend this campground!

Nice park, lovely island.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/07
We have stayed at Rivers End twice now, and are heading back in a few days. Stayed several days on our first trip, enjoyed the lighthouse tour, visited Ft. Scriven and the beach. Walked into town and had a great seafood dinner. On the second trip, were only staying overnight on trip to Disney. I developed a toothache, and the staff were very helpful in assisting me in finding a local dentist. The Wifi connection was very useful in further trip planning and reservation adjustments. We are visiting for several days this year, and using the campground as a center point to tour Savannah. The shuttle bus to downtown will provide transportation. The sites are rather close, but didn't have any problems with neighbors on either previous visit. See you soon!

2007 Pirate fest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/07
When we arrived we were assisted in leveling up our camper by one of the staff. Upon raising the roof on our 3 year old pop up that we had only used 4 times before, the cable tangled and the top would not come back down. A call to the manufacturer, Jayco, left us on our own. The staff member loaned me tools and checked my progress and offered assistance several times until I got the problem repaired. We stayed an extra night after the break down nearly ruined the first day. We found the staff helpful and courteous. The grounds and facility were clean and well maintained. We will stay there again next year.
