Our Yearly Escape on our way to Big Bend

The other reviewers were certainly harsh! My family and I have been staying at this quaint and quiet lodge every year for the past 10 years and the owners have always been so helpful and kind. The beds are new and the furniture rustic (unlike the negative comment from one poster who akin them to junk!! Decor has a Historic memorabillia feel. To miss that is to miss the point!) Rocking chairs and picknik tables outside compliment the adobe style 2 suite cabins. There's privacy for families with children who would rather not disturb others, and plenty of space in a middle courtyard to enjoy the interesting geological pieces set out by the fountain. Laundry, kitchen utensils, and family-run atmosphere. (Another question for the poster above who said the manager left at night! This is a multi-generational family run business, always available to help.) When our family needed an extra night and didn't have one reserved, the staff worked it out to arrange for us to stay in the same suite, right in the middle of a busy holiday weekend! They were so kind and my kids loved the quaint atmosphere. Now, if you're looking for a large upscale hotel, this is not your cup of Starbucks, obviously. But a small family on a budget, ready to rest a night or two before trekking off to the Chisos Mountains, then it's certainly well worth it!
