Econo Lodge & Suites, Orange

Front desk was inexperienced. Keys did not work. Took 4 additional attempts to get them keyed correctly. The second night the key would not work again, I was then informed it was probably programmed for a one night stay, I had paid for 4 nights. The room had not been cleaned properly, my grandsons found used ear plugs, an empty gatorade bottle and a little girls bracelet. When returning to my room, I found my door closed but not latched. The cleaning staff was on the floor, but not in my room...it looked as if someone were planning to return later to acquire my two laptops. When I voiced all of these complaints, the attitude was that of indifference.

When we arrived the staff was very nice, we checked into our room, the air conditioner went out, it was replaced later that afternoon. When we came back from the concert that evening at 11:00pm, the air conditioner had went out again after replacement. We were then moved to an smoking room and I am allergic to smoke. We were told nothing else was available. The room had no coffee pot, the door lock at the top was broken, no cups and dirty trash can. Being late and tired we went to bed. The housekeeper came around the next morning at 8:30Am and wanted to know if we were leaving that day. Can't even sleep late. Then after returning home, I noticed a debit on my bank account for an extra $100.00 for damage to the room. So I called the manager and she said there was room damage about something found in a trash can. I told her it was there the night before and she swears it had just been cleaned. Everything missing out of the room, sure. She has refused to refund my money, so we are having to dispute the charges through Choice Hotels International and my bank. This hotel is in the renovation stages and a complete mess. I would'nt recommend staying there unless you are desperate.
