Maricopa Riverside Lodge, Canyon Lake

the location on the river is wonderful. The staff was helpful and able to answer any questions we had. The room was clean with easy front door/back door access to landscaped area. We will be back! We recommend this spot to those who will be in the area.

Our family stayed over memorial day weekend. Rooms were newly remodeled, great location, service and grounds. There was something nearby for everyone to do. We floated the river one day and enjoyed boating on Canyon Lake the next. We will be back next year!

Stayed two nights in a kitchenette unit with 2 double beds. The room was very small and beds were very old (no back support), with threadworn sheets. Really a stretch to call this room a kitchenette, with a tiny microwave, tiny refrigerator, and 2-burner electric stove all located in the bathroom area. No cooking utensils of any kind, and no coffee maker. $2 charge for ice. TV was a small 19" flat-panel. I guess people just steal anything that isn't bolted down. There was no maid service the 2nd day. On the positive side, the picnic area in back, on the Guadalupe River, was very nice with tables and grills. People actually hung out and cooked barbecue in the evening. Location was convenient. Would I stay there again? Definitely No. The room was just overpriced.

Not fancy, but can rent innertubes for river right next door! Horseshoe bend at river so that 30 min. ride takes you back close to motel! Stayed in a room with a kitchenette, which was handy with few restuarants nearby. Grills outside on a great deck overlooking the river. Nicly landscaped, hugh lawn. Coffeepot outside in am, sat and watched fishermen fly fish the river. Have taken youth groups here before with great success. Volleyball and swimming pool when we were tired of rafting the river. Firepit when there is not a ban (drought). Lake nearby with boat rentals, near antiquey town, Gruene, and outlet malls. Privately owned and personal. Bring beach towels and burgers to grill.

We stopped at this charming little lodge on a recent weekend excursion. Although the property is old it is very quaint, clean and full of charm. The people that work there are very helpful and know the area well. The location is awesome, so close to everything and yet off the beaten path. They have cable TV, free WI-FI and great coffee in the morning. A total smoke free building with plenty of fresh air outside as well as a back yard worth returning to. We plan to stay often at any price and have referred the Lodge to friends and family.

The one single pro of this lodge is the location. The river is literally in the back yard. If your main purpose of staying here is for water activities then you may be able to handle the awful rooms. However, please be aware of the following: 1. Our room smelled very bad. It had a very strong old, moldy, mildewy odor. Water/condensation damage was also visible on the wood paneling that had been painted over. (I guess that's what they consider remodeling?) 2. If a good nights sleep is important to you -- look elsewhere! The mattresses are cheap, springy, covered in plastic and are very uncomfortable. You can also hear every single vehicle driving down 306. If a motorcycle is on the premises, hope they do not plan on coming and going at night. You will definitely be awake! 3. The water pressure was a little TOO good in the shower, it was painful at moments. My main complaint on this is that the showers are apparently designed for very short people, I am 5'4 and even had to bend down at points to rinse and my husband is 6'3 - so I don't imagine it was too convenient for him. 4. The person at the front desk was fine during check-in (where you pre-pay!), however, the HOURS are very poor. We had a lot to do on our vacation and waiting for someone to show up at 9am so we could check out is ridiculous. They didn't even have a drop box to leave keys, so I left our key in the room and taped a note to their door. 5. Price - Even in the off-season (Nov.) our (single bed) room came to $77. The room was not even worth $50 in my opinion. All we wanted was a good nights sleep in a clean room and I don't feel that we received that. I think this place has a lot of potential and a small investment for REAL remodeling could go a long way. Get rid of the stinky paneling - dont just paint over it, buy comfortable mattresses AND seal the doors and windows so people don't hear every bit of movement outside. Overall, I would not return to this lodge.

it was not very clean. the rooms a/c broke frequently. very very small rooms. they need to work on their service. it was horrible and i would never go back.
