The Cork Bar offers a wide selection of libations daily and live entertainment every weekend.
As my 8 year old phrased it "the hotel is pretty but not comfortable". The staff were compatant but disinterested, we are still waiting for the english muffin my 6 year old ordered at our first breakfast, I gave him my toast when we finally decided it was never going to show up. The pillows felt like we slept on a brick and everyone woke up after the first night with sore necks and headaches. The room was never cleaned the first day which is not some thing pleasant to discover after a long (but fun day!!!) at Sea World. Overall it is a beautifully decorated hotel but I won't be recommending it to any of my friends.
The hotel was nice and so was the staff. They fixed a problem with our door within 5 minutes and were very helpful with directions and other questions.
However, the valet service is horrible. They damaged my brand new Dodge Challenger and have refused to pay for damages. I have been unable to contact anyone but the location manger, who is unable to help other than send in my initial claim. They charged $30 per day, then leave my car needing $560 worth of body work repairs. Unacceptable.
My husband and I went down to San Antonio for his R&R in 2008 and we wanted to stay a place that looked nice and that we had never stayed before. We choose Hotel Contessa because of the fact that it was right on the riverwalk and that it looked nice. We were not disappointed. The stay was awesome when we come back to San Antonio that is where we will stay! Valet was inexpensive and friendly. Staff was polite helped us out alot and room service was fast, food was good. I would recomend this hotel to anyone!
After reading reviews I was a bit concerned but what a surprise. We had a great experience, the staff was terrific. We didnt use room service but the bar, breakfast, front desk, valet and bellman were all very promt and courteous. Valet parking is $28 bucks a day but if that's a problem there is a garage just down the street. Hey this is a big tourist city and the rates and fee's were well in line particularily given the hotel is right on the riverwalk. Room was nice and comfortable stayed just one night but would stay again. Apps in the bar were exceptional, I think the chef was in for a special event and drinks were half price for happy hour. We shopped hard and couldnt beat the room rate.
The Hotel Contessa is a beautiful hotel, located on a very pretty section of the Riverwalk. Xmas time is so festive. Booked through the hotel website at a good price for our Xmas stay - I enjoyed the view for the extra dollars we paid. The room is perfect for people that need 3 beds (the couch in the sitting room is a sofa bed) and having 2 tv's with a door to separate gave the bedroom people and teens in the other room some privacy and extra space. They do not offer free wireless - that would have been nice. You have to pay for it or there is a free business office with 2 computers/printer that hotel guests can use. The parking is expensive,so we just dropped luggage at the door and went across the street to park in garage for $12.00 for the day - no in/out. The hotel restaurant had very good food, but expensive. Beautiful lobby to sit with a snack/drink or watch the Riverwalk. I would definitely return here and I recommend it. We had no problems at all.
We enjoyed our stay and have no problem with the environment or service. However, the hotel charge me for mini-bar that we do not use. When I check they gave me credit. However, 2 weeks later they charge me $85. We had put all the items inside the mini bar next to the cabinet so we can use it for baby milk. I've call them twice to resolve this issue but they have not return my call.
I travel frequently around the country and Europe and found Hotel Contessa very mediocre. The hotel itself looked nice but service was slow. The most disappointing part of the stay at Contessa was the theft of several articles. I am sure this doesn't reflect on everyone there but it will prevent me from staying there again or recommending the hotel as this has never happened to me before at any hotel.
Just getting out of Iraq for some R&R, my wife and I took some much needed time away from it all. We arrived at the hotel and it started with the valet parking, taking us to the front desk and helping us to our suite. The room was huge and just perfect. The valet, front desk personnel were just so friendly and helpful. After getting rested we went to resturant , the hostess and wait staff were just perfect. The location is just a skip away from the locale clubs. We spent two days here and we couldn't think of a thing to complain about.
Very nice, clean, comfortable suites. Ideal for a family. Good location.
Service not up to their 4 Star rating. Communal outdoor balconey overlooking the Riverwalk has probably 8 tables, but only 2 have umbrellas. It is no sercet it is hot and sunny in San Antonio. Many people were there sweltering in the heat this past Sunday (6/17/07) to watch the Spurs victory parade down the river. They were able to locate only one additional (broken) table umbrella. The concierge told us to go to the gift shop and just buy a regular umbrella.
Several other minor service issues that would not bear mentioning except they do tend to add up to a poor impression of the service overall.
Extra charge for internet connection. Expensive valet parking, but there is a city parking structure less than a block away for $6.00 / day.
