Monaco Resort, Clearwater Beach

and i do admit there were a few problems, but of course, it was not all managements fault. There were some incidents that were just a matter of the wedding party forgetting that there were other guests around and who also were paying customers. We had such a great time there, the rooms are amazing, clean, and the location is convenient to everything. That's the reason i came to this site, was to book again for next year!!

Clean and simple. Nice place to take your family. Only steps from the beach. I would go again.I had wireless internet, voicemail phone, BBQ grills all for free. They even had a coin laundry on the property for the guests. Two thumbs up for the Monaco Resort.

Please please please look past all the old negative reviews. The majority of them are related to management issues and for the last year a young lady name Kristi has been the manager. She is so sweet and honestly loves helping out with whatever you need. I'm sure if every guest wrote a review about their stay these sites would be filled with compliments. Monaco resort is a wonderful place to stay and Kristi will make you feel at home. Give it a shot and I'm sure you will agree with me

First, I asked for the "Motel Room" which was advertised for $65 on their website and printed rate sheets.. The lady told me she had availabilty for that room and took my information. She told me the total for 2 nights, including tax would be $179.20. I thought it seemed high, but wasn't sure what the tax rate was for a hotel on Clearwater beach, so I went with it. The lady didn't waste any time, and within 5 minutes of my reservation, she charged $100 deposit. I later learned that the tax is only 12 percent. Therefore, I was charged $80 per night. When we arrived, my husband tried to resolve this overcharge to no avail. There was a man and a woman at the desk, who I asume run and/or own the place, and neither was very nice to us. In fact, when we were checking into the hotel, another customer came into the lobby and asked for a roll of toilet paper. The lady got very snippy with her, and refused to give her any more toilet paper. Also, when my husband asked for a receipt, as we were checking out, the man said, "you should have gotten that when you checked in" and he didn't want to my husband a receipt. My husband had to insist several times. Vacations are supposed to be fun and relaxed. You shouldn't have to haggle with the hotel staff just to get some toilet paper!!! As for the room, it's fairly clean and countertops and floors appear to have been recently updated. Our room had a fridge and a stove. On the down side- The bedding is old and unattractive. The bed was lumpy and hard. The bathroom is extremely tiny. It had the smallest shower I've ever seen. I would compare it to the size of an airplane bathroom. The tv is really small, probably a 19 inch. The internet didn't work very well for us. It's not exactly "Steps From The Beach" as they advertise. It is actually two long blocks away. You can't even see the beach from their property. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, see for yourself. But, in a pinch, if you really need a place to stay, and you don't mind the possibility of getting overcharged- why not.

I had made reservations in advance with no problem at all. The staff was very friendly and informative on the phone. Got my printed confirmation via e-mail, without problem. Arrived before check-in, and was allowed to check in early, again without problem. Enjoyed our room. Everything was there we needed to make home cooked meals. Air conditioning was great. Quiet environment. Could walk out the door, cross Mandalay, and there the beach is! We could look out the kitchen window and see the beach, a little bit of it, but very close. I give Monaco Resort 10 stars! We are from New York, had a long drive, and a very nice stay. I will definately visit again. I forgot to mention AFFORDABLE!!!!

My family and I enjoyed it. It was clean the pool was heated and management was very helpful. I recommend it to family or mature adults. It is not a good place for the under 21 that want to party. They have a lights out at 11.00 pm. I like that so I cam sleep. I would go there again.

We were 2 couples from Gatineau, QC that were welcomed with open arms and felt like we were part of the Monaco Resort family at the very start of our stay! Chrissy, you made our stay unforgettable and you were very professional with your guests and very, very friendly... To the boss: Don't let this one go.... To John the owner: Thanks for such a welcome, you are a very nice gentleman and made us feel like we never left Canada, thanks for your invitation to your restaurant, it was a lot of fun. There were about 30 of us staying at Monoca Resorts for a wedding. We were treated badly from the minute we arrived. The manager & owner tried to force us into paying for days and rooms we had not made reservations for. The police were called twice because of his shady dealings. He and his staff made a wonderful day for a great couple turn into a nightmare. I would advice anyone to stay as far away from this place as possible.

There were so many problems. The service was bad and the room wasn't comfortable. The worst thing about the hotel is the management. I didn't feel welcome and had a terrible time.

My girlfriend & I come down for a week - we didn't have a resevation or anything and drove around looking. Someone we asked suggested the Monaco - so that is where we ended up. First, the location is only 1 -2 blocks to the beautiful wide sandy beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Further south on Clearwater Beach they have big resorts and it is very crowded - at this location it is much more residential - less crowded...but still you can walk a few blocks and find restaurants - Palm Pavillion and Frenchys Rockaway both really good. We also really enjoyed a little bar called the Shipwreck. It is right behind the place. We opted for the efficiency that provided us with a kitchen - a full sized fridge - stove, oven & Microwave. Toaster - Coffee pot - pots - pans etc.... all the dishes were clean. The can opener broke - so I went to the front desk where the staff person Andy said that he didn't have any extras but then went and got his for us to use. Small thing, but I mention it because while we had a few issues - they were promptly taken care of. The TV remote didn't work - well it did once Andy explained how to use it. ( Stupid me ) Maid Service was good - price was fair. Clearwater Beach was a really nice place. We hope to return someday. Overall great location - clean - nice staff.
