First, the week before my arrival, I emailed, no response, then called 4 times, no answer, only got the answering machine, left 2 messages, no return call. I just wanted to make sure about the room and to see if there was a refrigerator in the room. Second, my reservation was confirmed for two queen beds, I arrived on July 28th, checked in and when I got to the room, there was only one queen bed. I was told I was only charged for one bed and they were booked up so they couldn't change my room. (Only a $10 difference so I didn't notice.) If my confirmed reservation was changed, they should have at least had the courtesy to email or call me ahead of time. They didn't even bother to tell me when I checked in. My mother and I both have health issues and need our own bed, neither of us got any sleep. Third, there's an ice bucket but you can only get ice if the office is unlocked, after 9am. Not sure when it's locked for the evening. Forth, the air conditioner was set on 69 and we were unable to find a thermostat, no blanket, only a sheet and bedspread. My mother is nearly 84 so I folded the bedspread to keep her warmer. I finally just unplugged the unit. Bad experience, will never stay there again and would not recommend this place.
the clerks were very nice the rooms were clean but very noisey. but if you ask for any type of help from there maintance man he is either the stupidest or lazyest one person i have ever met. this was my last stay at this hotel i would even stay at the shark inn an even worse dump before going back to the tropic island my advice is to get some new grounds help in a hurry or lose what regulars you have
We have been going to Tropic Island for several years. We have been fortunate enough to always get the same 2 bedroom apartment. It is always spotless when we arrive. Everything we need is at our finger tips.
Managment treats us well, and if we do have a question, or a need, they are always more than willing to take care of us. Any place you are for several months, nothing is going to be perfect all the time...but, they do their best to keep everyone satisfied. , We enjoy beiing able to socialize with the neighbors both in the apartments and the RV park. Another asset is being able to walk anywhere you want to go in Port Aransas..
We always look forward to returning and are counting the days till we can get back 'home'.
Called and reserved a 2 bedroom apt. for the first 3 months of 2010. Told to look on web site at example room, ours would be just like that, we were given a room number. Upon check in our reservation card showed our room number however, they had given the room to someone else. We ended up in a less than comparable room, same price! Plug ins in bathroom and by kitchen sink were NOT GFP's. No fan in the bathroom and window did not have screen. Found a cockroach in the bathroom, told management, no response. Hugh cockroach came out of bedroom one night, caught it in a jar, took it to office, no response. Gasket missing on door threshold leaving a gap, lots of sand blew in under the door. Only door lock was on door handle and it was very flimsy. No screen on the main bedroom window. Blinds in 2nd bedroom and main living area where broken. Broom, mop, linens and kitchen equipment provided. I borrowed the cleaning ladys vacuum cleaner until someone abused it and then no one was allowed to use it. I was told, upon making the reservation, all we needed to bring were clothes. There was not even a toilet brush. There was NOT a heater in the room, we used the oven for heat. Never did use a/c, the unit looked pretty crusty. Room we reserved had a full sized sofa, and a much larger living, kitchen area. Room we got had a love seat and no kitchen counter space. We were very disapointed with the experience. We felt like management did not care about their patrons and therefore did not care about their reputation. I talked to management; he whined and said he could not do anything. We had stayed in the rv part of this resort for 7 years and it was an ok experience. After this ordeal I will never stay here again.
at check in the desk clerk could not add and tried to overcharg us. We had two rooms and one room had a broken dead bolt. We asked that it be fixed and was told it would be fixed when we checked out. Sheets were not changed even tho they had stains. Tub and sinks were not cleaned the second day nor was coffee replenished. We have stayed here for years but will not go back. rooms were very clean at check in.
WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE. BEAUTIFUL PLACE. IT HAS A SWIMMING POOL & SAUNA.
THE ROOMS ARE SPACIOUS AND ARE CLEAN IT HAS A MICROWAVE AND REFRIGIRATOR. WE JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. THE SERVICE WAS GOOD AND THEY WERE VERY FREINDLY.
