Retiring in 2000 we spent tthree winters on the road in Southern California, Arizona, Texas and Florida. We basically would stay in an area for a week to become familiar with the area and RV parks. South Florida was our favorite and Horseshoe Cove our park. The variety of activities and facilities combined with the friendly residents was key.The music program, golf, wood and stained glass classes and shops were important to us. The fantastic natural setting yet nearby restaurants, beaches and shopping is something we enjoy. Active residents direct daily activities including theme dances, holiday dinners, charity fund raisers, Golf Cart races, trips and cruises, physical fitness programs, classes in sewing, quilting, computers, guitar, line and ballroom dance, etc. Every day card playing takes place. Wednesday is bowling afternoon and Bingo night. The Pittsburgh Pirates spring training is about two miles away. The Sarasota and Bradenton area is home to outstanding eating establishments and numerous cultural venues. After six winters staying at Horseshoe Cove in our motorhome we have purchased a Park Model and are looking forward to many winters there. One last note: Manitee County has NEVER been hit by a Hurricane. Sitting on the tide affected Manitee River fishing and bird watching are popular. Each winter Manitees are observed from "the Cove". We srongly recommend Horseshoe Cove RV Resort.
