Smugglers Cove, Islamorada

I was in Islamorada to fish 10 years in a row, and stayed at Smugglers Cove every time. I even stayed in the same room evrey time. When I went back the second time year, they rembered my name. To me that said it all. The people are friendly and the locals hang out there. The rooms are the same as any other motel and just as clean. The food is good and they will cook your catch. No working phone in room. No toilet paper. Had to walk to office to get paper because there was no phone. Shower didn't work. Turned air off when while we were out and room was so stiffling when we got back, couldn't go to bed until 2am. No place to sit and enjoy water view. Restaurant wasn't open. Advertised pool, no pool. Took a refundable deposit for pet.We had the room inspected before we left and were assured that deposit would be refunded. Not! Maids came in to clean room one hour before check out while we were trying to pack. They could not speak English and we could not make them understand that we needed to shower and pack. Again, had to walk to office to complain.
