Punahoa Beach Condominiums, Kihei

We keep coming back to the Punahoa. We've stayed here 5 times over the past 10 years, and we're coming back for a 6th this summer. These views, at these rates, are unbeatable. Most units have everything you could possibly need for a great Maui vacation -- beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, coolers, ice packs - and management has beach toys for the kids if you ask. I love having a full kitchen on vacation -- no need to spend hundreds every night on dinner, just grab some fresh fish and make your own sunset dinner for pennies on the dollar. Can't wait for my next visit!

I can't complain about anything. They even have an elevator to the top floor, if you are tired, drunk, or just want to remember what you left behind. It is the best simple place I have ever stayed in. Like 10 times, wives, girlfriends, kids. Stay here with all its beauty, and spend your big bucks (if you really need to) at the resorts, just down the road, 10 minutes. Tight parking, yo. The place was built in the 60's. Park your giant car on the street. No vandalism that I ever experienced, and that includes surfboards on top of the car. Do Buzz's Wharf, over on Maalea Bay, by the boat dock. None better. Even some locals (not natives, who don't like you, by the way). Am considering one month in unit 401 for this late summer. Can't do better.

The location was great. 50 steps to your own private beach; snorkeling and turtles and if you wanted more company, then a one block walk was all it was to Charley Young Beach. A short 2 Block walk and you were at some outdoor markets and shops. Very well located. The unit was very clean and had everything you needed to prepare your meals. We had no problem with bugs or other critters in our unit. The managers were very easy to deal with and we felt that they were sincerely interested in making sure our stay there was enjoyable. We are definitely planning on another trip to Maui and we would definitely be staying here again. The sunsets were awesome and watching the surfers from your balcaony while drinking your morning coffee was a great way to start your day.

We have stayed here twice. The views are amazing and it's located by a lot of things. The beach is just a few steps away. Very quiet and all the units have small kitchens. One unit on the top floor has air. Parking is very tight, and some units have to park one the street. The second time we stayed there was a roach problem in the room. When this was addressed with management the response was, "oh well, it's the tropics, there is nothing we can do". Overall this a nice place, but I would think twice about booking again because of the bugs.

Punahoa is low key, quiet, and right on the water. Good swimming and snorkeling right in front. No pool but who needs it. Well maintained, clean and inexpensive.

Another couple, my husband and myself stayed in two top floor apartments that were very clean and nicely decorated, but the best part was the balcony and the view. We were so close to the water that we could see whales, surfers and beautiful sunsets. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and other beaches. We heard about it from my daughter that honeymooned there. Enjoy
