Totem Inn, Valdez

This place was filthy. We stayed in two different cabins. Both were atrocious. Floors were filthy. There was sludge and hair from many previous guests in the corners of the bathroom. The medicine cabinet was so dirty that we wouldn't dare use it. The kitchen was so filthy that we wouldn't eat there. The staff said there was nothing they could do about our stay. We asked to speak with the manager who we were told was not available. We asked to have the manager call us, but never heard from the manager. We sent multiple emails to the email address posted on the Totem Inn website complaining about our stay. We received no response. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We made the mistake of charging our card before looking at the room. It was expensive. It was a lousy experience. Worst we had during a three week stay. The non-responsive management tells the story about this place.

I've lived in Ak for almost 30 years. I understand that remote lodging often times leaves a lot to be dersired. But when I pay over $150 a night for 3 nights, I expect a few things. The room smelled of rotten ass. They did not change the sheets on the bed. There was an outdoor bar speaker 10' from my room and blared every night, into the wee hours of the morning even tho I'd requested NUMEROUS time to please turn it down or off. The wifi was bad. I was 50' from the restaurant but could not order food from my room. It was NOT a good experience, especially for costing me $450 for my stay. How many stars? NONE...!
