A true skiiers lodge
This lodge is nestled in the middle of the Green Mts. only a 4 mile drive to the Skyship Base and gondola for Killington Resort, and it is only a 12 minuite drive to Killington Drive, the area where all the nightlife lives and Killington's main lodge is located. On top of it's great location, this lodge really caters to skiier and boarders, and everyone I've met there is very into mountian sports. This lodge has both rooms with private bathrooms, rooms with shared bathrooms, and downstairs they even have bunks set up for die-hard skiiers and boarders on a tight budget. In many ways it is very much like a European hostel, everyone gets together in the main room and tells stories, watches movies and if your lucky, someone will have a guitar and you can sit around with a beer and listen. There is a very large table in the dining room where everyone eats together in the mornings, and discusses what and where they plan on skiing that day, where the best snow was the previous day, and talk about other things in the area to do. I've only been here once, and am currently planning a three day weekend trip for this January. I've stayed in the private rooms with a private bathroom (and proposed to my wife while on this trip), and we plan on staying in the bunks downstairs on this upcomming long weekend trip.
I enjoy my time here, both at the lodge and at Killington, the undesputed king of North East Skiing. If you doubt, I live in Detroit and choose to drive the 10hrs. for weekend trips just because the skiing is so much better. Bigger is better when it comes to skiing, and Killington is by far the biggest in the NorthEast. You can ski for days and not hit the same trail twice.
Bottom line is this - If you are a people person and enjoy meeting new people that also love to ski and board, and don't require a 4 star or better hotel, then this is the place for you.
