TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT
By ,
The whole experience was aweful. Upon arriving, I was informed that I could not pay cash for the deposit. The website stated deposit was USD 50, which implies United States Dollars. The room was already paid for, but I was not allowed to stay due to the deposit issue. The management refused to give a refund. I called back and asked to speak to the manager, but the desk clerk was rude and hung uo oin me. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Free Coffee and Critters!
By ,
I liked the free coffee in the morning. I disliked the scabies I picked up in the room. I also disliked the unconcerned and deflective response from the management when I called to privately tell them about this problem. They chose to argue with me about where I got scabies rather than say something simple like " oh, we are so sorry, while we cannot confirm that your scabies were acquired here, we will certainly make sure to address this situation." To be sure, these things happen in the bed-renting business. It is very poor form to ignore customer complaints about scabies. I can assume more people have now met my little friends. The free coffee also included sugar and creamers.

Nightmare--Bait and Switch
By ,
Not once but twice. Booked a room three weeks in advance and got a confirmation number. We arrived to find a rude manager that insisted that we had never called and our number was not "One of ours". Lord knows where our Credit Card number is? He did just happen to have another room that was 50% more for the first night and 75% more for the second night. As I said. it happened twice. Our parents arrived several hours later to be met by the same manager with the same exact story. Well not exactly, the room they were quoted was double what they had confirmed three week earlier. Stay Away---Far Away They use the old Bait and Switch.

Never stay here!
By ,
The management will harass and stalk you for no reason and then add a $400 charge to your bill because of it. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Wet, Moldy, Broken & Noisy
By ,
I'm currently staying at this hotel. When I got to my room I noticed that one of the lightbubs was broken & hanging. The tub & bathroom floor are discolored & chipped. We left for a few hours & returned to a stinky room. A couple hours later I realized that it was a moldy mildew type of smell. The carpet under the bathroom sink smelled disgusting & was a bit damp. The hotel staff offered to spray something on it. I refused because my young children are sleeping & I don't want the chemicals in the room. It is also a bit noisy. I should have spent the extra $20 and stayed in downtown SB or at the motel 6 next door. It is definitely NOT worth what I paid.

Great Customer Service
By ,
I stayed at Sandpiper Lodge a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised with their accommodations and hospitality. The room was extremely comfortable and looked better than the nightly rate. The staff was very helpful and extremely courteous. They recommended near by restaurants and attractions, and also helped us with directions. I highly recommend Sandpiper Lodge to anyone who visits Santa Barbara.

Floods & Hairy
By ,
I stayed at this hotel, when I woke up the bathroom floor was covered in water and it had soaked the carpet in the bedroom. The front desk wasn't to concerned and overed me a room up stairs so I would have to carry my things out in the rain and move to another room. I packed and left. As I was checking out there was another woman complaining of dirty sheets on here bed, and she was given a discount.... I wasn't. This hotel obviously has several problems.

Good value
By ,
Pros: The hotel is not too far from downtown. The room was comfortable and roomy. Our room was located on second floor and very quiet. I also liked the window in the bathroom while most have blind bathrooms. Definitely good value for the price. Cons: Parking is a little tight. Not many spots and small if you have a large vehicle. I've seen better breakfasts. We decided to drive to the nearby starbucks.

PLEASANT STAY
Good things about this place: Nicely located. The continental breakfast offered surprisingly good, true fresh from the bakery goodies. The room was clean and pleasantly updated with nice furnishings and designer style treatments. Comfortable bed. There's a good, inexpensive hole-in-the-wall authentic Mexican food place, a quick walking distance away (at the little strip mall heading west on State Street). Not so good? The air conditioner worked poorly (operated on the lowest level only) and it was hot and humid during our two day stay. The motel was packed to capacity and it was difficult to find a parking space AND fit into a slot with a large vehicle.

No hot water
By ,
In the morning, there was no hot water for my shower. When I alerted the front desk, their response was "yeah, we've heard a lot of that this morning." They didn't even appologize. We had planned on staying 2 nights, but only stayed one.
