Oceanview Motel, Huntington Beach

The room was clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and the location can't be beat. Within walking distance to the beach, supplies and shopping close at hand, and the view was beautiful, even though from the far side of PCH. I'd stay here anytime I'm in LA or Orange County, even close to Disneyland! The Oceanview is my beach house from now on.

I have been coming here off and on throughout the years ever since 1997 and I have to say that this place can NOT be beat for location, comfort, cleanliness, price, and friendliness of the staff. It's located on the east side of the Pacific Coast Highway facing the Pacific Ocean and you can see breathtaking ocean sunsets from your room. You really don't need a car when you stay here either, as there are many great places to eat and bars with live entertainment within walking distance. And of course, you are only steps from the beach! The beds in the rooms are top-of-the-line and are super comfy. The staff provide you with addtional pillows, if needed. Each room comes with cable TV, with all premium channels, including HBO and ESPN. Each room has it's on frig, coffee maker, and microwave. Select rooms also have in-room spas. The staff also provide daily snacks delivered to your room, such as crackers, cookies, and popcorn. This place is SUPER CLEAN!!!!! The staff take special care in making sure that each room is cleaned to the highest standard. As far as price goes, this place can NOT be beat. They offer off-peak rates as low as $55 per night. The staff also offers you a special low rate, if you stay for extended periods of time. It's my understanding that they have not raised their rates in over 10 years. This place is a SUPER Value for those on a tight budget! The best thing about this place is the staff. It has been operated by the same family since 1987 and they are absolutely amazing! They actually assist the housekeeping staff in cleaning the rooms on a daily basis, to make sure that the cleanliness meets their high standards. The family who run the place live onsite and are the friendliness and most helpful people, that you could ever encounter. They make it a pleasure to stay here! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who desires great quality and value in their lodging needs. So, the next time that you want a Great Place for a Great Place come stay here!

I liked that the motel was located on Pacific Coast Highway, making it a short walk to the downtown area. I thought the staff was pleasant and the room was clean. I enjoyed my stay in Huntington Beach and checked out some local shops that were suggested to me while staying at the Oceanview. I went to Tommy T's Body Piercing which had an amazing selection of nose piercing jewelry. In fact, I got a compliament on my new jewelry when I returned to the hotel! All in all, the Oceanview was the right choice for my stay by the beach and I would stay there again if I happen to go back!

The Oceanview Motel is a horrible place to stay. If you like not having any service then this is your place to stay. If you like having housekeeping come in your room without knocking then this is your place to stay. They have NO Do Not Disturb signs for the rooms so we were disturbed every morning even when we asked them not to disturb us. There is no communication and no hospitality. On our last day we were barged in (without knocking) by the owner telling us we had to "check out now" even though we still had 45 min until we were allowed to check out. The only good thing about the ineteruptions is that they were eager to clean the rooms. Yet they managed to do a poor job on that as well. I guess you get what you pay for. DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL!!!

I just stayed here on New Yrs Eve 06. This was a very expensive stay for what we got. The rooms had the bare minimums, not even a box of tissue in the room. HAHAHA Ocean View? What a JOKE!! You can kind of see a sliver of the ocean between the houses across PCH... that’s your "ocean view". As for the rooms... Well for starters the bathroom had no working fan, and in the bathroom ceiling there was an open Ebox showing terminated wires (it was safe but ghetto). The real issue was when we woke up in the morning, the room had NO power. When I told the front desk the first thing she asked was "What did you do?" I didn’t do anything but wake up! She was very defensive and tried to make it seem like this was something I did. She offered us a new room but we were leaving shortly and to move to another room was pointless. She even said since we checked in early, that we should leave early!!! If nothing else, avoid this place just because the manager really doesn’t care about your stay and once they have your money they just want you out!! The worse place I have EVER stayed!!!

This place was a dump. I did not even want to stay the night. The beds looked like someone had been jumping on them, no soap, 2 tiny thin towels. I asked for a refund and did not stay. Would not give a refund even though I did not check into the room.

Front counter service was pretty rude, non helpful.. Very horrible, sour, moldy smell in room. Holes in our comforter. Pillows felt like rolled up balls of cotton. Towels were really old and gross, paper thin. Scared to use them. Shower head was placed on the wall for short people. So, plan on showering on your knees if you want to wash your hair. Didn't get a very safe/protected feeling, and didn't have a secured deadbolt on the door. When we were getting dressed and ready to leave the room in the morning the maids would stand and peak in the window.. actually putting their hands, nose and face up to the window as they peared in. I would NEVER stay here again, no matter what the cost!! We tried calling other hotels because we were so uncomfortable but at late notice, couldn't afford it. Would have been worth the extra $30 a night to stay somewhere else.. Might be ok for a group of surfer dudes, just looking to surf and sleep wherever there is a bed... Definately not for families or even couples.. YUCK!! Only thing good I can say, is it's not a bad location.. though further from the Huntington pier than I had thought.

We stay while visiting relatives and only want a place to sleep. It was miserable. The bed was so hard you could only sleep an hour at a time before waking up due to numbness. I don't recommend it. Oceanview is a misnomer, there is no view of the ocean. It is convenient to The Harbor House, best restaurant in CA.

This place looks ok on the outside, but don't be fooled. The room smelled like horrible mildew and when we wanted to check out a day early because of the smell, they wouldn't let us without paying anyway. We switched rooms only to get smokey mildew instead. The owners (?) were very rude and unhelpful and there was not an ice machine. Don't stay here!!!

The rooms are fairly small. I wouldn't want to want to share a room here with more than one person. We were in a standard room with a king sized bed. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. AC worked well. Ice machine was broken. TV buzzed and clicked off. It's on PCH which is very convenient, but close enough so you can hear the traffic. With the AC on the noise wasn't a problem for us. For the rate you get online, it's not bad. I would stay again, though I'd like to try one of the spa rooms. :-)
