Since our trip was last minute and on a holiday weekend we were only able to get 1 night in a cabin, the other in one of their newer rooms. First of all I loved the location! Your right in the middle of "downtown" Idyllwild. We walked to lunch, dinner, and shopping everyday. There are a bunch of activities on the grounds like horseshoes and a play set.
While the cabins were much more romantic the rooms were warmer at night. Not much insulation in a log cabin built in the 20's.
The back of our room was next to a great coffee shop and a local wine store with wine tasting and an exceptional cheese and fruit platter.
After staying at the family owned Idyllwild Inn I would never stay anywhere else! Just bring an extra blanket, some warm socks, and walking shoes.
We where coming here for just a weekend and it turned out to be 5 days. Its been 8 years since we been here because i was about to have my second child at the time. It is only a beautiful 2 hour drive from our home in san diego. As we where driving my 8 year old and almost 12 year old where hoping for snow but when we got there there was no snow except a little on the side of the road. I told my sons to hope for snow tomorow or sunday. My oldest son is obsesed with hotels so when he got in front of the cabin its our own private villa like the stars get. Its been so long since my older son went and my youngest son first time. Even thoug it didnt snow we still had fun, but the next morning it started snowing and it snowed forever so we stayed an exra 2 days. I highly recomend this place so cozy nice fireplace even if it doesnt snow it is still fun.
Filthy, disgusting and not anything like the lovely photo on their website. Couldn't stay even one night.
Apparently some of the rooms are fine. We should have been warned about the one we got before we drove 100 miles and up the mountain.
