Westgate River Ranch Resort, Lake Wales

Upon our arrival after a 15hr drive, we were given an occupied cabin. Then we were given a handicapped cabin with dead and live bugs everywhere. We were so exhausted we slept it off and the next day we were after lunch getting moved to a new clean cabin. We finally got in after the two different sets of keys and calling security to fix the lock. Cabins are quite luxurious when they are clean. Nearest anything like Walmart or restaurants to eat was 40 minutes - 1 hour away. The property restaurant is only opened Fri, Sat, and Sun. So for Mon- Thur, you either have to cook or drive a long way for a meal. The pool was merky and the water was smelly from all the Love Bugs - read about them. They swarmed us! They leave acid on your car. You couldn't enjoy walking for all the bugs. One morning our water was turned off. The young lady we seemed to get each time didn't seem to have a clue and was not very greeting. Aside from that, the fact that you have to pay for everything you do or do nothing is an extreme shock to your pocket. The nearest beach is 1 hour away. The kids loved the petting farm which was the only thing free besides church. If seclusion and nothing to do is your kind of vacation then this is the place for you. Just wasn't for us with two kids.
