Very nice hotel.

The only thing I will knock about this hotel would be cleanliness. Honestly, my friends saw a cockroach in their room and I saw long hair strands on my bed before we even used them. We complained and it got taken care of fast. You can surely tell the hotel is remodeled and older by looking at paint job and wall scuffs and wear. This was a gem when it first opened a long time ago. The rooms are large and feel very open - non-stuffy. Though website doesn't seem to note this, my room could fit 3-4 adults very easily, if you needed to have more than the 2 max they claim each room fits - beds are queen and full size in double bedroom I was in. Breakfast buffet was best we've ever experienced in any hotel, and we visited several nice hotels in Europe, Asia, and N. America - paid and included...it's included here. Ask the staff for specialty foods or drinks, which non-alcoholic ones are all free at breakfast. Beach is across the street and the sand is great, much better than most non-Caribbean sand I've experienced, but the water itself is a little dirty - that didn't stop us from enjoying the fantastic warm water. You may get hounded by beach vendors, but just be nice and say no thanks over and over and they'll leave - pretend like you're busy soaking in the sun. No nearby non-hotel restaurants, so that's unfortunate in one way, but it keeps much of the hustle and bustle you may not want on a beach excursion away too. We loved it. If this place was keep cleaner with no visible bugs (all places have bugs we don't see), would would give 5 stars overall...remember, this is still a developing country.
