WORST EVER VACATION
By ,
90% OF THE PEOPLE SPOKE SPANISH AND THE STAFF VERY BROKEN ENGLISH. WE AND OTHER PEOPLE WE SPOKE TO GOT SICK AND EVEN NEEDED IVS! CONSTRUCTION ABOVE US AND NEXT DOOR TO OUR ROOM AT 8am. THE BEACH IS VERY SMALL, BUT LIKED THE LARGER POOL AREA,PRETTY QUIET. THE HOTEL WAS FROM THE 1950'S AND NO NIGHT LIFE THERE, EXCEPT FOT NIGHTLY SHOWS WITH NO AC I THINK THIS IS THE WRONG AREA OF DR TO GO TO--PUNTA CANA IS MORE AMERICANIZED. NO DESIRE TO EVER GO BACK- GLAD TO BE BACK IN THE USA!!!

The best of Boca Chica
I went there with the family. two teenage kids (boy and girl). We all loved the food, drinks, entertainment and service. There's something for everyone there. The people are courtious and helpfull. The rooms are great and very clean. Great shows every single night. We truly loved this place. I'm already trying to book my next vacation with them. Can hardly wait. We highly recommend it.

You get what you pay for
By ,
The Coral Hamaca is a decent resort with a small but nice beach, clean rooms, and service with a smile, especially if you tip them. I found that by regular tipping ($1.00), Service was vastly improved. I actually had bartenders walking up to me asking if I wanted a drink, and they knew exactly what I had ordered previously. This is a poor country, and these wonderful folks don't have much. Tips are included in your overall price, but you're getting such a good deal, what's another $100? I would also recommend tipping your housekeeper. MY ONLY COMPLAINT was the food. I'm not very picky, but the food was sub par, for the most part. The Tex Mex was the best. The buffet is just not worth it, although the breakfast was decent at times. The Italian fare at Rigoletto wasn't bad. If you're into night life, there's not much to offer, but the disco was okay. There were a few shows that weren't bad either. This is definitely a resort that is mostly a good value. I enjoyed myself and found myself fully relaxed the second day. Expect a wait during check-in. Be patient and smile-you're on vacation!

Will not be going back
By ,
Hamaca Coral is no longer operated by Hilton maybe this is why the service is poor. Our first problem no a/c no toilet rolls, patio door would not open, fridge did not work. Throughout our stay maid service was poor one day we had no towels until 6pm, we phoned for towels 3 times when they did arrive they were thrown at us. At the bar the women were ignored until all the men were served. If you want a childrends program I would no recommend this property although it says there is one therer was never anyone around. One problem here the staff hardly speak any English, from check in staff onwards. On the plus side the grounds are pretty and large, there are two distinct properties, garden or ocean there is a lot of walking from beach to restaurants. Food was good with varity and 3 a la carte restaurants, definitly the Tex Mex is best. I have been to Puerto Plata, Punto Cana and now Santa Domingo, I would go back to the first two but I will not be going back to Santo Domingo, the people are nowhere near as friendly or helpful and once off property you are hounded by the locals. This property is overpriced.

not what you're hoping for...
By ,
I suppose your expectations of a hotel in the Caribbean have to be different than one on the states. I stayed at the Coral recently with a group of 6 people and heres the real lowdown. The rooms are oknot great but not totally horrible. They are a tad dingy and look no where are bright and clean as the hotels online photos. Very basic accommodations. It took 3 days to get a hand towel and washcloth. There is no shampoo. The soap they give you is small and awful (bring your own goodies) I called housekeeping for a toilet plunger and they asked, What is that used for? Our table lamp bulb broke off and we couldnt get it replaced, so we had almost no light in the room. They give you 2 large bottles of water each day, which is nice. They also give you 2 beers and 2 sodas, but you have to call room service to get the fridge unlocked. There is no Internet in the rooms. There is a safe with no lock, as you have to pay for that on a daily basis (!!) The beach is nice but not very large. The food---well, lets just say almost everyone got sick at one point, but in all fairness it could have been his or her accidentally ingesting tap water or ice. If youre used to good food, dont expect much. If Applebees is your idea of a great night out, youll probably love it. Needles to say they keep you plenty boozed up so you dont think about it as much. The Santa Fe restaurant seemed to have the best food. The Italian place served rock hard meat, and the Dominican restaurant had us waiting 2 hours for food to be served. The entire property is surrounded with razor wire, so if you feel at all guilty about how poor the country is, that will only exacerbate it. Dont expect to leave the property for a stroll. I highly suggest the horseback riding (an extra fee but worth it) at the Guavaberry country club about 20 minutes away. If you want a quiet room, get one NOT in the main building and NOT near the pool. Beware the moped guys as you cross from one side of the property to the next (it is crossed by a public road) You will be panhandles and offered all sorts of things---ignore it and keep walking.

Enjoyable Vacation
By ,
I loved the executive floor. the rooms were spacious and clean. The amenities of having their continental breakfast and happy hour was great. The view was amazing. The food in the restaurants was fine, you do not go to these all inclusives for gourmet food. There is plenty to eat and you will not starve. The pizza on the beach was great and always fresh made in front of you. We even had a few pies made for us because we had alot of family members who were hungry. We tipped them $2.00 The place is always kept clean. I was extremely afraid of the reviews as well as Hilton not being involved. I was pleasantly surprised, but the executive floor did make a difference.Check in and out was a pleasure. The people who help you on the floor were great. The negatives were that we did not have hot water at night to take showers and the elevator broke down a few nights. The beach was great and always enough towels. The massage on the beach was very good , but they do like to talk to each other which can be distracting. Stay away from the casino unless you like losing money. I would definitly go back, and would be interested in getting involved in the vacation club. We also had unlimited internet access which was great for my kids.

Can't wait to go back there
By ,
The food was incredable and the service was great. The locals were the nicest people ever and one of our tour guide was Fraklin who we still keep in touch with. We are going back there soon with family and friends because that is where we are getting married. We never ever been on a vaction like that because it felt like a hoilday but when you go there you actually feel like family. Even on the day we arrive at the hotel we wanted a king size bed insead of double beds. They were so helpful that thy found us a room with a king size bed. I will cont going back there with my family or even for a girls week and even my boyfriend loves the hotel has much has I did and he even keeps talking about how great this place is. I'll even have my wedding there too.

Wonderful people, beautiful decor
By ,
There is a "hotel" side of the resort and a "time share" side. We ended up on the hotel side in a beautiful room with an ocean view. We loved it. The decor is beautiful with island colors and exotic wood furniture. The service was Dominican style...not always immediate but done with a smile. The restaurants included in the all-inclusive package are amazing. Better than most all-inclusive resort restaurants. The servers and staff were friendly...especially when we attempted to speak Spanish, which neither of us do well. They all speak English, so communicating wasn't a problem. I can't speak for the rooms on the other side of the resort, but overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We also went to Punta Cana, which was just resortville to me. I much prefer Boca Chica.
