Forget about group events here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/07
This is a lovely place and conveniently located for my family and I. However, we recently celebrated a fmaily birthday there that did not go well at all- the staff had not prepared the tables in a timely manner, some of the people's food was served cold, people did not receive their meals efficiently (one table was finished eating before others even received their meal), and finally, 3 spears of asparagus does not constitute a side dish of vegetables along with 3-4 very tiny roasted potatos! In addition, valet parking was not available even though a sign was posted for it. I have enjoyed brunch there on a few Sundays, but I will never bring my family there again for a function - I was embarrassed.

Just terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/07
We actually did not stay in the hotel - we arrived on August 26, 2007 at 1:30 PM for brunch. There were no parking spots in their tiny parking lot (it held about 8 cars) and a sign in the park saying that it was valet only. My boyfriend waited in the car while I went in to ask about the parking situation. When I went in, there was no one to help me at the door and about 3 staff members walked by me before someone asked if I needed help. I asked about the valet parking situation and she responded that there was no valet on Sunday before turning around. Someone else had to mention that parking could be found on the street because it was free on Sunday. We parked and came back in immediately. Again, no was was at the door for assistance. A server came and rather rudely asked us if we had a reservation (the restaurant was about 1/4 full inside and only one table was occupied on the patio). We said no and asked for a table for two outside. She didn't respond, but just walked away outside. She returned a moment later and told us that it would be a minute. When our table was ready a few minutes later (again, every table was available outside but one), she said "your table is ready" as she walked past us. We went out to our table, unaccompanied, and found dirty plates. After no one approached us for our drink order, my boyfriend went inside to find assistance, and again, no one was available. We were so disgusted, we just got up and left without another word. The service was just terrible. We weren't expecting much, but what we got just was completely substandard. 0 stars, unless I can give -5. The only reason it gets a 5 for location is because it is just down the street from my apartment and local Pittsburgh amenities.

Terrible Service/Charming Setting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/06
All the physical aspects of Sunnyledge are charming. Unfortunately the undisciplined staff ruin the experience. The valet was not at his post. The hostess was absent, then when she showed up, she didn't greet our party as much as she screened us for reservations. All beverages were left unattended by waitstaff during Sunday Brunch, requiring guests to go in search of anyone to refill a water glass. Dishes in the buffet were left empty with no apologies when one finally breaks down and inquires if they will eventually be refilled. In spite of having at least 50 brunch guests, one of the two unisex restrooms was left with an "Out of Order" sign on it, causing patrons of both genders and all ages to form a line. All this staff indifference is served with high prices and a check that has already included the gratuity.

Sunnyledge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/05
Title: Sunnyledege won our hearts Having traveled quite abit in the United States I realize that European tastes and North American tastes as they relate to hotels are somehwhat different. I believ howver that Sunnyledge in Pittsburgh PA transcends the continental divide in terms of hotel taste. While the rooms are not huge they are in fact quite cozy and charming. The beds are very compforatble with goose duvets. The chef prepared raisin oatmeal cookies with turn down service were a nice touch. The staff was very friendly although it is obvious the hotle employs mainly college students from Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh. Some might prefer seasoned veterans but we were happy with a less stuffy and jovial concierge and front desk staff which were quite good at making dining recommendations. Aside from our deluxe room we enjoyed the martini bar and restaurant. Overall Sunnyledge was a good fit for this European.

Excellent Time at Sunnyledge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/05
Sunnyledge Hotel and restaurant in the Shadyside section of pittsburgh lived up to all the positive press coverage Ive read from the West coast. Hotel rooms are not huge(we had a deluxe room)but the design is fabulous. Mini bars wet bars jacuzzi tubs and very special Frette Egptian sheets which are great after a long day of shopping down the street at the shops on Walnut. Staff was etremely friendly and made great dinner recommendations although we prefered the dinner we had on our last night at the hotel itself. If you are staying on a weekday be sure to ask for a corporate rate(they arent available on weekends so we had to pay the full rate) Check out the bar for a martini and a Lobster club sandwich if your not up for a full scale dinner Overall 4 and a half stars. Sunnyledge is worth it!

Elegant Sunnyledge in Pittsburgh
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/05
The rooms were charming. We had a deluxe and a suite which were each individually designed with unique patterns and furniture. The bed was the best Ive ever slept on because of both the quality of the mattress and the linen quality. Mini bars, wet bars, Jacuzzi tubs and tons of amenities usually found at the Ritz or Four Seasons hotel were all present. The staff was excellent. Very helpful with reservations for dinner and events. The martini bar is a must see even if you dont drink! The bar is made of imported italian glass mosaic which is Fab. On Friday nights the martinis come with Dry Ice for a bubling effect which reminded me of the Adams Family. The food was also very good we shared Crab Cakes, Sea Bass and, Lobster Risotto
