Great place at a great price!

My husband and I stayed at Spurs N Lace in Sept 07 and Sept 08, and enjoyed it both times. The prior review from 05 almost made me not give it a try back in 07, but I am very glad that we did. There are 2 rooms that have the jacuzzi tubs, the Mountain View room and the Victorian Rose room. The Moutain View room also has a fireplace. I didn't notice any cobwebs, or dirt, like the last reviewer mentioned. And I am always looking for that kind of thing, especially in the bathroom, and they have all been clean. We stayed 3 nights both times, and the breakfast was different each day, and we really liked them. They are healthy breakfasts, fruit, quiche, etc.
Anyhow, if you are staying multiple nights, then call Leo directly and he might work with you on the price, compared to booking it on-line. That's what I did. Also if you call him you can get a run down on what rooms are available. I think the prettiest room is the Mountain View Room, then the Victorian Rose room, then the Sunflower room, then the Heritage room, and last would be the Durango room. You might like the Heritage room more than the Sunflower room if you don't care for sunflowers though. Each of the rooms has its own bathroom, and the pictures on-line do not do the rooms justice. They are much prettier in person. The only one that is a little different is the Durango room. Leo (who runs the place) decorated it and it is ok, but the ones that Sharon (his wife) decorated are a lot prettier.
There are spare pillows in the dresser, and he has extra towels if you want more.
Leo reminds me of a classic character from a book. He is an old Kansas cowboy, with a twinkle in his eye, and he is bound to say just about anything. Very fun personality. The other reviewer said he was too talkative...I suppose he is talkative, but you can also just say he is friendly too. It depends on your perspective.
We saved a lot of money staying at Spurs N Lace and also had a personable experience rather than staying in an impersonal hotel. Since we stayed in '07 we knew exactly where we would stay in '08 and plan to aso stay there anytime we go to the Springs.
The place is within walking distance of downtown old Colorado. It's also very close to the other sights.
There are also places to eat close by, and there are places to park your car at Spurs N Lace.
I am a pretty picky person about where I stay, but this place is just a great deal. As you can tell my husband and I liked it very much.
